Is 2017 the worst/least anticipated year for new roller coasters in the US? If not, 2017 is the worst/least anticipated year for new coasters in the US since when?
I tend to think that it is the worst year for new credits in the US since I really became an enthusiast. 2017 features no new B&M's, Mack's, or RMC's. Most of the new credits are clones, smaller wooden coasters, and one small launched Intamin. Just not a lot to get excited about in my opinion. I can think of at least two unannounced projects for 2018 that I'm significantly more excited about than anything in 2017.
It's definitely a downer compared to years past. My favorite new coaster in the U.S. has got to be the family launched coaster at Sea World San Antonio. Within the Six Flags and Cedar Fair chain, the best new coaster is probably the Joker clones tbh, as Mystic Timbers seems rather timid to me.
On the bright side, 2018 is looking to be a freaking awesome year. I'm beyond excited for RMC Hurler (And it hasn't even been announced yet ).'

Yeah, 2017 is defo. a down year for coasters. The best of the bunch I feel are the FSA Woodie(Mine Buster), Mystic Timbers, Gale Force, and the Joker Clones. InvadR looks nice so far, but it doesn't seem to do too much anything.
Here are some of the other 2017 US new coasters. 1. Hydrus (Casino Pier) Gerstlauer Euro Fighter 2. Alabama is opening a new theme park (Owa) in 2017 and will open 3 new Zamperla coasters. A spinning wild mouse, a family gravity coaster and a Thunderbolt (Coney Island) clone. 3. Super Cyclone (AZooment Park) Interpark Galaxi clone. 4. Dollywood is also getting a family Zamperla coaster along with a drop tower.
The only other coaster that I know is opening in the US this year is a relocated water coaster, Kersplash at Edaville USA. As for RMC there's the still unannounced RMC Mean Streak. So we don't know if this is a 2017 or 18 project.
So 2018 will bring 2 (possibility 3) RMC's, can't complain about that. Mean Streak, Hurler and maybe Kennywoods. Out of the 3 it's Kennywoods I'm most interested in especially after seeing the overlay of the coaster.
While this isn't exactly coaster related 2017 is going to be a busy year for S&S. 17 new rides in total for S&S this year. Here's the list of the 17 rides. 1. Dutch Wonderland- Family Invert Coaster 2. Fuji-Q Highland- Dodonpa Loop (ride enhancement) The huge top hat is being replaced by a large loop. 3. Happy Valley- Space Shot/Turbo Drop 4. Hershey Park/ Triple Tower Complex 5. Huayi Bros Movie World- Combo Tower 6. Nagashima Spa Land- Free Spin 7. PlayLands Castaway Cover- Triple launch coaster 8. PortAdventure- Combo Tower 9. SFGAm-Free Spin 10. SFOT- Free Spin 11. SFNE- Free Spin 12/13. Sun Tzu Cultural Park- Air launch coaster/Space Shot and Turbo Drop 14. Wanda Harbin Amust. Park- Space Shot/Turbo Drop 15. Weihari Rio Carnival- Space Shot/Turbo Drop 16. TBA Park(Middle East)- Combo Tower 17. TBA Park(SE Asia)- Combo Tower This was posted on Screamscape if anyone is wondering where I found this.
I know this is nit picky, but technically the freeflys are by S&S. As for most anticipated new coaster, it honestly was the launched coaster at SeaWorld. Well, long story short, I can't ride anything until at least July, so CoasterCon is canceled for me. New anticipated coaster of 2017 is Mystic Timbers.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
