You really dont need to get there too early. It's not as crowded as SFGAm, but it is a very nice, pretty park. Lots of old shade trees and flowers. The oly drawback to the park is that is built into a hillside, so its very hilly.

That being said, here's my opinion on the ride situation. Batman is the same as ours, albeit a mirror image. Only one like it. Ninja is a smaller version of a Shockwave steel looper. The Boss hurt me when I rode it. Not a fan. Screamin Eagle is fun, and the River King Mine Train is tame. The best coaster in my book is Mr Freeze. Coming over that top hat with just a lap bar is INSANE!!

Other rides...... Dont miss Scooby Doo Ghostblasters. They have a good flat and water ride package down there. Lot of the same stuff we have or close to it.
YOU ARE A FAILURE AT LIFE!

Couldn't agree with Greatamerica2003 any more. I went on a hot August day at around 2pm and the longest wait (Mr. Freeze) was 15 min.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but if you're planing on going to the park on April 8th, you might be waiting in line by yourself due to the fact the park opens up April 9th. I hope the lines are small as I will be there that day and saturday also.
Waiting to fill this space with something stupid to say!

SFStL can get somewhat miserable on Saturdays, but early in the season it shouldnt be that horrible that you have to get there like before the parking lot even opens.

Also while the coasters are ok there (my personal perferance woudl be Mr. Freeze, those lapbars rule), their non coaster rides are also really good, dont forget the Giant Evolution (Xcalibur) and the Scooby Doo ride along with a few other cool flats there.

Also for reference, not sure how much help it'd be in determining crowds, I ended up going there on a Thursday or friday last summer, was 73 degrees sunny and low humidity, spectacular day, should have been packed, SFGAm most likely would have been under those conditions yet every ride in the park was a walk on exept for Scooby Doo with like a 10 minute wait and Xcalibur with a one cycle wait (ride holds 64 people per cycle), and this all is with a fairly high profile new ride.

This happens to be the park closest to me. I visited it three times last year and never had a wait of longer than 15 min for a roller coaster. Here are some tips for each coaster. I've listed them in order counter clockwise around the park.

Batman -- This is the coaster closest to the main entrance. Once you enter go to the right and you can't miss it. If you get there at opening there is very little wait for front row. My favorite seat is the first seat front row closest to the loading line. As you come out of the flat spin towards the end it looks as if you are about to splat into the unloading station. The further back towards the back of the train you go, the more turbulent the ride is.

Ninja -- Depends on what you like. If you want good visual effects and loops ride toward the front. Added bonus if you ride in the very front seats, you can extend your legs all the way up into the hollow nosecone, and as you exit the second loop (sidewinder) look forward and up. the chain drive from under the lift hill looks like it will take your head off. If you want speed and air, sit towards the back of the train. Just don't complain to me when you have to attend physical therapy for the next year. This coaster is old, made by vekoma, and will shake the **** out of you. In fact, when the train completes the transfer from the station to the lift chain lean forward until the train is completely on the chain otherwise you may get a rather unpleasant headbanging.

Screamin' Eagle -- great for speed & air. the less humidity there is the faster eagle seems to run. Its an old woody that will shake you a little, just make sure your lap bar is set right, arms up, and have fun.

Boss -- runs about the same as eagle only with some banked turns. The faster it runs the more it shakes you. If you lean into the helix at the end it helps a little. Also, if you are taller ride in the back row of the car. The fronts have a weird grate thing that will bang up your knees pretty bad.

Mr. Freeze -- not a bad seat on the whole train. The launch system uses a moving platform on tank treads and pulley wheels to launch two trains on the same track. When you get to the front of the loading line, look down when the platform moves to launch the train ahead of you, you'll see what I'm talking about. Make sure your lap bar is down close to you and that the seatbet is locked into the bottom of the bar, or else the ops will re-adjust it for you and that will not be fun. Look at the board in the center of the loading lines to see the speed of the train that just launched. Other than that, when you transition form the freefall backwards to the curve, you might bang your head a little. Let me know if you find a way to avoid this effect. This is my favorite ride here even though the cars are a little cramped.

After riding freeze check out scooby doo, I don't care how old you are that ride is just fun, but it usually has a longer wait than the coasters.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

Dave, read my trip report from mid August. I was there on a very nice weekday for only an hour and rode 4 rides. Good stuff. Lines were no longer than 15 min.

It's worth it. This six flags has good theming (I like the Chicago theme) and a good waterpark. Their coaster selection is respectable. The view cannot be beat from the top of their giant ferris wheel. Its all tucked away in the side of a white limestone hillside.

I was very suprised with SFStl on my visit. Barely any lines, not too expensive and it was well kept up. This is one of the most underrated parks out there. They have a nice selection of rides. Mr. Freeze is a must.

Dude... i am soo just getting my seasons pass there....
I called them and they said that since i am more than a 100 miles away the season pass will only be 50.6somthing cents... how awsome! The only dissadvantage is that i wont be able to go to the coasters after dark or anything else like that(all the great america special events)
Do any of you know if six flags st. louis has any cool special events like that??

Can you buy the season pass there, but process at SFGAm? (I'm not sure what processing is, but I'm pretty sure that it is not the same as purchasing). But they'd still print it on their season pass, unless you can pay for it there, get a ticket, then come back up here for the picture??? Just an idea.

Passes can only be processed at the park you buy them at... So that wouldn't work.

Unless you live close to SFSL you would spend the leftover money on Gas

Yeah, with gas prices the way they are, it wouldn't make sense. On a car that get's 27 highway MPG we had to fill up near Eurika MO. So that would be two tanks, totaling (for me) 40.00. Not worth it in my opinion

I have been there before, it is a great park! Definately one of the most scenic that I have been to in a while. The lines usually are very short, and if you can, I would recommend staying after dinner. That is when many of the school/church/youth groups leave. The park is a ghost town after that. Ample oppurtunities for many rides  .

I may have the chance to get to Six Flags St. Louis at the end of next month for a day, when a group of friends heads to a Cubs/Cardinals game at Busch.
