I dont understand why CF would do this....CP already pretty much controlled all of that areas consumers so competing with your flagship parks sounds pretty stupid. And even more, it's going back to being called Geauga Lake!
I guess SF is finally taking steps to get out of their multi billion dollar debt. How is this a b*tchslap in the face to SF? They needed to sell a park, SFWoA is a big park, they have made TONS of attempts to bring attendance up and it hasnt worked. A good park to sell.
Yeah good news for coasterzak, maybe they'll clean your uni for you now.
Who knows, Cedar Fair may have their eye on us too, we can only hope!!
Who's we? Speak for yourself. SFGAm is just fine being run by Six Flags. Unless the corporation went belly-up, there is no way they would sell off Great America. It is one of their cash cow parks.
This sale of SFWoA is in the best interest of both SF and CF. SF unloads an underperforming park and reduces their debt. CF can capatalize on this with a multi-park promotion.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Will this mean a new name for the park come 2004? And, what will be done with the safari area if the animals are gone. Does Six Flags have anywhere to put them? Will Cedar Fair turn that into park space or add more animals?
Someone please help me. At least all you guys are 8 hours away from this chaos. I can't visit SFGAm. Guess I'm going to have to get someone up there to purchase my Six Flags pass so I can go on some more tours! No more SFI for me! CP has a monopoly in my area!
I am so glad. The company is in high debt, and all but 6 of their parks are like carnivals. I dont care too much for woa anyway. It is pretty nice though because its got sea world in it, and some new rides. I REALLY am glad bout the european parks though. They all SUCK ASS. Except for wbmw wich i pray they didnt sell. This is a good thing for everyone else in the country because r parks will be better now.

You can always buy a Six Flags pass when you arrive at the first Six Flags park your visiting and get the pass there and use it for going to other six flags parks that year.
Next time I make a trip up to C.P. and the park formly known as SFWoA, Ill probably buy a Cedar Fair pass so I can get into both of those pluse Michigans Adventure. (not this year though, since CF passes aren't good at G.L.)
I always thought Six Flags Worlds of Adventure had alot going for it in terms of what it had to offer, but now Cedar Fair is dumping the wildlife side of the park and suddenly it's future doesn't seem so bright. Sounds as if it will turn out to be another Michigan's Adventure to me....alot of space but nothing filling it.

Are all Six Flags season passes still valid there this season?
I've never been there, but I would imagine that the could turn some of the Safari Land into more themepark space, but why would CF want to try to build two mega parks so close together. Thats almost as stupid as SF building a park in Milwaukee.
Maybe they can open the park a month late to avoid going all season with no open park, but it would seem odd visiting a half assed park where only 1/2 the shops are open, no merchandise, and misplaced coaster themeing.
It's hard to picture, coasters without signs, no t-shirts or novelty suckers. Its gonna be a very long, hard job for Cedar fair to get this place to even look decent, or who knows maybe Sf will cut them a break, or maybe it was in the contract that they can keep things the way they are for a year, unlikely but possible.
CF has to remove all SF licensed products from the park before they open it. Dick Kinzel stated that in the press conference.
Obviously coasters like Big Dipper and Raging Wolf Bobs wont have to be touched but coasters like B:KF , S:UE, and Roadrunner Express will have to be changed.
What makes it even worse is that CF cant go in tomorrow and start taking this stuff down(legally) until the aquisition is finalized in which Dick said could take up to a few weeks.

Welcome to grey land. Every ride is painted flat grey and has no name. We have generic grey tshirts and no food. LOL
I wonder how cheezy of names CF can come up with. Geauga Lake is a boring name as it is (fits with CF's park name scheme though). I wonder if GL will contantly get the short end of the stick when it comes to funding for new rides/improvements in Ohio.
