Zeus?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby coastercrazy111 on January 2nd, 2004, 3:41 pm
The trees around the roller coaster Zeus at Big Chief In Wisconsin Dells have been completely cleared, there are no trees left. Does anyone have any information on this. Is the ride being removed, or is it getting major rehab? I know that they couldn't be replacing the trees because the whole ride goes in and out of the woods, could they be making room for a new attraction or what?

Have they even finished their new Water coaster that was supposed to open last Summer?

I can't see them building another attraction when they still haven't finished or opened the one they are currently building.

Yes the water coaster is finished, and they breifly opened it in 2003 for testing, they are still trying to work the bugs out of it, and it is running a little faster than they wanted.

Maybe someone got hurt back there.

Well last time I went (Spring 2003) they had to keep closing Zeus. Employess or what looked like mechanics were looking around at the area that you are speaking of. Im either thinking they are taking it out for the heck of it or minor refurbishing.

I would be so disappointed to see this coaster go... I love it, it would be horrible for them to have to lose such a great woodie. It's a classic CCI, and they're tallest coaster. If they aren't removing it, that's still disappointing, as the trees added A LOT to the ride experience. It was awesome rushing through the trees.

Wow this is very dissapointing. Riding Zeus at night in the forrest is an INCREDIBLE experience. It added so much to the ride. I hope this ride isn't coming down.

Maybe they're expanding? Who knows how much of those woods they own?

I highly doubt its coming down. It's there best woody let alone probably thier best coaster. Well then again (forgot the park) got rid of a flyer (well it was a Vekome flyer lol) that was brand new.
I think they might be expanding. Possibly some flats?????

All the trees are gone near Zeus? Good lord, that was a whole forest it navigated through. Does anyone have pics of the coaster with the trees gone?
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I just got back from their. All the trees around zues are not gone. Just the ones right by the rode. The clearing goes beyond zues so it appears to be land being cleared for a new ride.

Good! Thanks for clarifying this for us. Is the plot of trees that were cleared big or small? I wonder what ride they could put there?

The last thing they would put there (and Im correcting myself from before) flats. They have to keep up with the name. Big Cheifs Karts and Coasters. Or they might be making a new Go-Kart track. In my opinion Poeisedon (sp?) go-kart track should be taken down. The top of it is to slippery and Ive crashed up there a couple of times.

Well yes I can crash anything if I fell like it because im just SOOOO special :D but the advertise it "race go-karts underwater and all you do is go under a bridge in a cement tunnel and you see nothing and when I did crash the person who cut me off got ejected from the park. But they need to gas up those karts more, I was on that flat one across from Poeisidon (sp?) and I was stepping on it as hard as I could and my friend passes me up not even at full speed!!

Yea, those carts suck pretty bad. That Posiedon track was such a ripoff. It was dumb just going through a concrete tunnel that happened to be underwater. It was good advertising though because I'm sure alot of people thought that it was alot better than it actually was.

I'm sorry but as an advertising major, I can tell you that misleading advertising is always BAD advertising. When a customer finds that they have been lied to, they are going to not only dislike the specific product, but also the entire company. Therefore, someone who goes to Big Chief's expecting an "underwater track" will be so ticked off by the deception that they won't go on anything else, thus hurting the park.

Bad advertisments help no one.

That's very true... But if you've ever been to the Dells, you know that it's FULL of completely misleading/bad advertising. That's basically all the Dells is lol. All the little businesses and attractions try to make whatever it is they have to offer better than it really is. ;) 8)

The wondor spot had to be the cheapest and most misleading thing in the dells! I was expecting it to be this big unexplainable mystery thing but later found out it was just stuff on a slope  .
