Since you'll only be there for a day, you may be able to find coupons locally that may get you a little off of admission. I'd also recommend getting a Q2Q pass (Flash Pass), as it's only $15. If you're there just for credits, then it should only take a few hours, but if you want to enjoy the park, I'd spend the full day.
If you were going for more than a day, I'd recommend the Dollywood Vacations package. If you stay in one of their cabins or properties, you get free parking and a length of stay pass. The cabins are reasonably priced for their rated occupancy. The length of stay pass is a day admission (no discount), but you can use it for the entire time you're staying at one of their properties. It's really a great park regardless of what you do and you should find it enjoyable. Thunderhead is the best coaster there.
