Thanks for sharing. Wow, SFGAm & SFGAdv went down in attendance by a lot. I remember at one time, they were like 2.8 million, and now they have to be below 2.6. I still don't see why the Magic Kingdom is getting the new stuff when Hollywood Studios & Animal Kingdom are getting 9 million people while Magic is 17 million.

in my opinion, Hollywood Studios needs to change some stuff up. I know they have gotten Star Wars, and they have gotten Toy Story Mania, but for something like Star Wars it's a good ride, but it sort of feels the same from the other ride. I know that the films are new, but it's not a necessity to me to go there because oh the film is new. If I didn't go on it as the new version, I don't think it would matter if I got on it again. For Toy Story Mania, it's okay but I can just play most of those games on the Wii - not a big deal.

They need more newer stuff - have had Indiana Jones, Beauty & the Beast, Muppets, and Little Mermaid for a long time now. Muppets I don't care for (because that blue thing ruins it for me), but sure those shows are really good shows, but they really should start changing some of them to get more people in the park. Adding more attractions would be nice too - like getting rid of where the Millionaire show used to be. Even the Great Movie ride, I think they should change that up. There are a lot of great movies besides the ones they have in it. Sure, it's a good ride, but after running for how many years with the same animatronic figures, things get old. The backlot tour is way too short. That Motor show ruined it. I rather see a bigger new attraction in that spot.

^On why Magic Kingdom gets an expansion, it's for capacity. Fantasyland as it is now is a mess most of the time due to it's size. During the holiday time it is pure insanity. It also allows the park to increase the Closing Phase levels if they want.

For the rest of the Disney parks, the thought process is why add when attendance goes up without additions? It hurts them long term as attractions need 2-3 years from green light to build, but the company is not thinking long term. It's all about that years bottom line and executives getting fat bonuses for said bottom line.

This report was really a carbon copy of last year's. Harry Potter once again dominates the attendance growth (making up 1/2 of all US theme park growth by ITSELF) on our end while the Asia/Pacific market continues to grow steadily each year. Pretty soon you'll be seeing more and more great looking coasters heading East as the parks grow and attract more patrons.

Not a huge surprise about Europe's numbers due to the economy being what it is over there, but things do seem to be sputtering over on the other side of the pond.

It is always sobering to see how many people the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland bring in per year. Those two parks combined do about as much as Six Flags does as a chain. Incredible.
