Top Ten Roller Coasters - Number 4

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I guess we should move onto #4.....

For me my #4 coaster would have to be Thunderhead at Dollywood. Really good coaster in a really good park, makes excellent use of it's terrain, and the layout is complex enough to keep you guessing even after a few rides.

Then number #4 in the Steel department (maybe in the mid 30's/low 20's overall) is Mindbender at SFOG. Very intense, extremely smooth looping coaster without any pesky or annoying OTSR's, it's also one with it's terrain. It also has some pretty extreme airtime here and there which is pretty rare for a looping coaster. It's pure A. Schwarzkopf.

I'm also going with Thunderhead for my #4, you summed it up pretty well.

For steel i'm going with Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion. Even though when I went on it there was a trim on the first drop, the steepness still provided some nice airtime and the rest of the ride is like Goliath at SFMM on steroids. The ride is extremely intense and the restraints are very comfortable.

Number 4 on my list takes us to the North East and to one of Six Flags' rebrands of a coaster a few years ago. It's Bizzaro at Six Flags New England.

Bizzaro isn't the tallest ride in the world, but its Layout is like an out and back where the "back" part of the ride is just brilliant. The addition of onboard audio, fog, and lights at night make it even better. The audio is the same as Bizzaro at SFGAdv, but that's okay. When you slam into the brakes and "THAT JUST HAPPENED" blares out you just sort of have to start clapping.

If you haven't noticed from my Top Ten yet, coasters with a lot of inversions really aren't my favorite. I think inversions can be pretty boring/sometimes painful. Airtime, twists and turns are where my enjoyments lie, and Bizzaro has all of them. The first few hills are pure ejector airtime glory, and the back half of the ride includes airtime, tunnels and loads of awesome.

I went to SFNE during Fright Fest last year, and while the Fright Fest event was pretty lame, Bizzaro never got old and I was able to ride it 5 times that day. I also almost got into a fist fight with a drunk hick in line who wouldn't leave with security who noticed he was drinking out of a fifth of vodka. But hey, it's Six Flags, what can you expect.

If you're ever near Massachusetts, go ride Bizzaro, it wasn't ranked the #1 coaster in the world 7 or 8 times due to pure luck.
