I really like the loop, but other than that, I think SFGAm may have gotten the better end of the deal. One thing the artwork doesn't show off though is how it interacts with the ground, that may be a big factor as well.
It's just a vertical loop, one that we've all experienced countless times. Granted the feeling of no track above/below would make it pretty awesome, but I still like X-Flight's layout above this. That said the terrain will probably make the ride experience a lot better.
It also sounds like this announcement should have been made sometime last week. I think Dollywood pulled the shorter straw on this ride which is kind of unfortunate, but I'll hold any further judgement until I ride both next Summer I guess.
Theme Park Review has a behind the scenes update of the construction site, which right now is mostly just some supports, but the area where the ride is seems like its going to make it look very cool with all the hills and ridges and trees that are still there(as of now at least, but I'm guessing most left at this point will stay)
got an update directly from Dollywood and an event I was at this past weekend. They expect the trains to arrive in late jan, and they will start testing in Feb.
Probably means SFGAm's train will come after that, so probably April/May I'd guess.
