So we have: -First Zacspin in the US -STE Retheme we all knew was coming -Kids coaster we all knew was coming.
If the STE retheme is as depicted in the video, a lot of people are going to be disappointed. Considering the awesome work they did at DreamWorld with ToT, this is a bit of a let down.
Also trying to figure out why they bought a Zacspin. Anyone know the actual capacity on these things? I could be underestimating it though, considering the ride time is pretty short.
This is so random to me... They've got land & "we don't" That ZacSpin would have been nice to see come here for bein so different but I am just seein a capacity problem here. But nonetheless, exciting announcement.

Frankly, I see a capacity problem with it everywhere. Let's not get desperate for wanting to see something turn up here at home!
& I didn't mean it to come out like that...would it be cool here...yes. But not really at the same time. What I meant is, these coasters were designed for parks with limited to "no land". SFMM has so much, yet they build a compact vertical coaster...odd, very odd. & though this looks like a clone of "INSANE" I feel the video depicts it to be a taller model.
The most exciting part of this announcement is wondering what Cedar Point will add next coaster wise. It also seems like the big "anniversary" park for the chain was SFMM.
So 3 new coasters for SFMM in 2011, and the whole rest of the parks theres only 3 real coasters for 2011? I think this Zacspin was supposed to go somewhere else like SFSTL, or SFA
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2. Coaster Count: 167 (41 Wood, 125 Steel) @Coaster_Cole on Twitter
Yes, it is sad for SFGAM. We get a water park addition that it is mediocre and wont be open often due to weather and limited operating season, and SFMM gets a up grade on one coaster and 2 other roller coasters for that park. For SFGAM being a excellent money maker for the chain we get little new to encourage people to return for next years anniversary season.
A Zacspin to me makes no sense for a park that already has X. Every other park in the SF chain doesn't have a ride like X, so why did they give it to Magic Mountain? This doesn't make sense.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

Agreed. I remember David saying that Weber doesn't care about the coaster crown. LMAO! Yeah right. Weber-what a jerk.
As fun as Zacspin coasters look, I wouldn't want to see one in Gurnee. Five of the last Six coaster additions have (or had in the case of Deja Vu) poor capacity. I feel the same regarding the various other single/two car "toy coasters" that seem to be popping up everywhere.
Kudos to them for actually adding something new. Six Flags' marketing tendencies from the past had me looking at the "3 new coaster experiences" claims as both Superman cars being reversed (Two new experiences because there are two cars!) and a relocated kiddie coaster being the third. That or they would throw onboard audio on Deja Vu and rename it Green Lantern.

I'm more excited for the STE retheme than Green Lantern... and still, not very excited for that.
We need some more FLAT RIDES out here. It's not enough to make a kiddie coaster. That still limits the amount of people who ride it. Why have kids and adults riding two different rides when they could ride a flat ride together, eh?
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.
That animation is awesome, dramatic and showcases the park very well. Puts Great Adventure's Green Lantern animation to shame .
As far as the actual additions go I am glad they are doing something with STE, hopefully they re-do the launch system to be more power friendly and make it go faster as that ride was an embarresment for that park and it is good to see they made it a priority.
Green Lantern looks to be a filler ride, it will look cool (and finally they build a ride themed to the area its in) but that park already has a 4D and it won't be one of their best coasters. Considering how SFMM went down the tubes after they built X and DejaVu the fact that they are building a new coaster when DejaVu is closed without explanation right now is not promising either. Hopefully they can keep their rides open and park looking good otherwise Six Flags will get grilled by going back to this type of marketing campaign. The main thing that really concerns me is the rides capacity, its really annoying when major parks add these puny little 300-400 riders per hour coasters, this is LA not Indiana Beach.
Its funny they are adding another used kids coaster to get the record back like they did in 2001 when they added Goliath Jr along with X and DejaVu.
^Just to point out Dejavu is just down for its yearly maitenence nothing more nothing less. As far as the additions go, I am truley excited. I will be heading out to the Mountain for my first time and these new additions will make my trip even more exciting. I also plan on getting a platinum flash pass to do all the rides numerous times!!!!!
"Yearly maintenance" is not a reason for a ride to be closed for 7 months. The fact that a huge ride (that is right next to their newest coaster) is SBNO for a long period of time right now shows they are still having issues budgeting for the operation and maintenance of the park.

Hey Dip ****, dont question someone who understands the ride system. DejaVu is closed for annual maintenance as much as Universal's Rip Ride Rockit.
I think what he meant by "understands the ride system" meaning understands it doesn't need to be down 7 months for rehab, and that neither ride is down for annual maintenance.
We get a water park expansion and Magic Mountain gets 3 new roller coasters... could've Great America at least gotten 1 roller coaster in 2011... 2012 better be a good year.
