Pirate's Cove Theme Park Memories

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

It's not closing down or anything, but I wonder if anyone wants to say anything about this park. I have never heard of it on this website at all, and I just remembered about the place because they had a commercial on a tv station.

This place is still located in Elk Grove Village, IL.
The things I remember about the place that I liked was first off the water boat ride. It would just go around in a water channel, and there was some scenes with some stuff. I think it was animatronics. That was my favorite ride at that park. I think this is now that Safari train - a Zamperla train, because I remember buildings there were to house stuff.

Than, my second favorite thing was that they had these separate train cars, and you would use your hands (turn the thing) to get it going. This was a big track to get around the whole thing. The map shows they still have these - hand propelled trains. My 3rd favorite thing was the Spaceship you would go in, and than after you were done with the spaceship /ufo they had these things you would sit on orange wheels, and you would turn them and they would go on the concrete not very fast. The last important thing I remember was that you would go to the top of this play area, and than you would go on these yellow circular things, and go down on a wire. I guess you would call it a sky zip, but it was much smaller. You weren't hooked onto anything though.

If I could I would love to do all this stuff all over again. Too bad some of it's gone and there is no way they would let me on a hand propelled train, not to mention I would fit. In a way I see paren'ts living through their kids. They would look stupid going on a ride that's only for kids, but in way they want to ride a ride that they rode so long ago because it's reminds them of their own childhood.

Man I haven't heard that name in forever! I know I went there once or twice when I was very young, but I don't remember anything about it other than the big pirate ship.

If anyone wants to go to this park that has kids, here is a coupon I found for a $1 off admission, and I believe that parents are free. http://issuu.com/suburbanfocus/docs/sub ... mode=embed - It's on page 10! - This is the Suburban Focus Magazine. I was just looking at this for festivals, but came across this coupon on page 10.

Since I live in Elk Grove, I take my kids there a few times a year. There have been changes over the past few years though. Your right Ilovthevu, the boat ride has been replaced by a safari train. The hand propelled trains are still there, but the sky ride, where you hung on while you went down a wire, is gone, and replaced with a fun slide. I don't remember seeing a spaceship there over the last 7 years. They also have a carousel, self propelled water boats, a jumpy fun house, a playground, and a rock climbing wall. Under the pirate ship, they have an arts, and crafts area for the kiddies to color, and make things. Its a great place to kill 2hrs if you have small ones under 8, and the food prices are resonable.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.

I remember going when there when I was around seven or eight years old and going on those trains over and and over again. I always wanted to go on the Sky Ride but all I ever saw on that were bigger kids and was too nervous.

Man, thats a real flashback.
