If you thought SF's haunted houses were lame, try checking out a local one:Stagg High School Drama Department will be hosting a haunted house on Friday, Oct. 24th & Saturday, Oct. 25th from 6-11pm. There will be a kids fest on Saturday morning, Oct. 25th from 10am until 4pm. This is an awesome event, and the actual haunted house is built on stage! If you are anywhere near the Palos/Orland/Tinley/Oak Lawn area, be there! Tickets are only $5. More Info: http://www.staggpac.com/Anyone know of any other local haunted houses?
This isnt a local haunted house but my friend said there is an awesome haunted house in Milwaukee. He said its 5 floors and its really scary. Has anyone heard anything of it. If its really there has anyone been it? How good was it?Has anyone ever been to the Tom Thumb park that used to be in the Door County area? There was a 2 or 3 floor haunted house in there. My dad said it was the best one hes ever been in. It was pitch black inside and the actors would come up behind you and touch you to scare you. They would chase you around in some areas that there was light. I remember seeing some people that got chased out of a room(by a wolf), on to a balcony, then went into the next room. That was pretty funny. I wish the park stayed around a few more years so I could have gone in it.
There's one about 10 minutes away from Six Flags Great America, in Greyslake, IL at the Lake County Fairgrounds. I saw a sign for it while I was thier 2 weeks ago for some snowmobile drag races, and heard a radio advertisement for it on the radio tonight claiming it's "The scariest Haunted House in Illinois".I might stop by thier tomorrow while im in the area before going to Six Flags if I get thier early and have time.I might even have to check out the one by Stagg one day, I go past the school everyday on my way to Moraine Valley but im usually running late so I probably won't have time. Also for those of you who live around Oak Lawn or Burbank, Haunted Trails is having it's 13th annual Haunted House. Here's what thier website has to say about the Haunted House:
FrightMare 2003 begins its 13th year as one of Chicagoland's premier haunted houses! Located at Haunted Trails Amusement Park in Burbank, Illinois, this $300,000 high tech scare has been featured on FOX TV. This year's guests will board the Pirate Ship "Nightmare" for an evil encounter with the ship's "skeleton crew!" The 600 foot maze surrounds a two story structure housing 12 scenes that play with your senses and emotions. Come out for the SCARE, but stay for the FUN at an amusement park whose year-round theme is HALLOWEEN!
To me $300,000 seems like alot to put into a Haunted House so I assume it's probably worth the $8 admission. I might have to go check it out one of these days since its only about 5-10 mins. from my house.
My sister said that she herd somthing about a haunted house in chicago where you pay money to get into it and there's like 12 stories and if you get to the end you win a lot of money!?! MOst people don't make it that far but do any of you know anything about this?????It's suposed to be REALLY scary!!!!!!!!
I would love to go in that haunted house. I am yet to get one scare in a haunted house. Is there any better deal than getting scared and getting payed for it?
I heard about that. I think that its actually 13 floors. My dads friend went in it and only got to the 5th floor, its supposed to be extremely scarey, its down in southern Illionois somewhere if I recall corectly.
I know there's one in Lockport called the Statesville Haunted Prison and the City of the Dead. It got a 5 skull rating. Its 25 bucks and well worth it. Definitely the best haunted house Ive ever been in. You have to be 14 and older to get in so that says a lot.
I am going to Hades haunted house this year. Its at the Tweeter center. It is supposed to be scary. My parents went to it along time ago when it was some wheres else and they said it was scary.Hades
In response to the Haunted Trails Haunted House, went in it recently. I get scared easily but this haunted house didn't even scare me or my 7 year old nephew. I only had to pay $3 because I was at a party, and I think that was even too much for it. Just a warning for those of you willing to pay $8 for a bad haunted house.
About the Frightmare, that's my town's haunted house and its diffinately not worth the $8. Hades Haunted House doesn't exist that website is about 3 years old which was about the last time it was around. The haunted house im planning on going to is Dream Reapers in Melrose Park,IL. It's rated #2 behind Statesville and has their own production team. They created a unique house by actually having each room smell like the real thing. For example you walk into a room thats a cemetary, it's actually going to smell like a cemetary. If you want the rankings of the best haunted houses #1 through #10 go to hauntedhousechicago.com It has the best in Illinois,Wisconsin,Indiana, and Michigan. [/url]
I was just at Stagg for a marching band competition (boy do they suck at adding up scores) and I didn't see anything about it. I'm still looking for which haunted house I want to go to, does anyone have a link to a site that has a list of all the haunted house in the chicago/suburb region?
I keep on hearing about a haunted house called the '11th Hour'. It sounds good to me. You experience events like a subway crash or a F5 tornado (the strongest for all you weather illiterate people). It mixes 3d with real props. I think that would be scarier than the classic haunted house theme. I never got scared once in the Maslume (sp) of Terror.

Do you have any proof?quoted from hauntedillinois.com:Chicago Refund HoaxFor years there have been rumors circulating of a multi-level haunted house, in the Chicagoland area, that gives you your money back if you make it to the top. Throughout the years, there have been numerous variations of this tall tale. The most popular version that I have heard is the account of a 10 story haunted house in Chicago that costs $10 to get in, where you get your money back if you make it to the top. Other variations feature a house with more levels and/or cost more to get in, and some stories describe a house that gives you one dollar back for each level you make it through. I've even heard the rumor of a Chicagoland haunted house that would give you your money back and a free ticket to Great America if you made it through. Sounds kinda far-fetched, doesn't it?Not one of these stories has ever been substantiated. No matter what variation of the story you hear, the situation is always the same. The person telling you about the haunted house has never gone to it themselves and they don't know exactly where it is located. A 'friend of theirs' or someone that their friend knows went to it... No matter who you question, no can ever give any concrete details. Sound familiar???Here is something to consider. How could an operation like that be profitable? Imagine the substantial cost that would be involved in operating such an enormous attraction (especially in the city of Chicago). The expenses would include the purchase or rental of the multi-level building in the city with ample parking, electric bill, heat, the mammoth cost of furnishing this multi-level building with props, animatronics, special effects, actors, etc. Not to mention the revenue lost by giving a percentage of the patrons their money back! Here is another thing to think about. If you didn't make it to the top and you were on one of the middle floors, where would you exit? And how would you NOT be able to make it through? Do you fall through a trap door? Do they have a slide from every level to the ground? Obviously, fire and safety codes wouldn't allow such a thing. The whole concept is just absurd. The premise of these stories has been a popular Urban Legend in Northern Illinois for as long as I can remember. No one has ever been able to provide proof of the existence of such a haunted house. If someone tells you of a haunted house like this, but has never been there themselves and they can't tell you where it is, it is probably a hoax and doesn't exist. If you are still skeptical, go to Snopes.com, a website that explains Urban Legends. Click here to read a story on their website, disproving variations of this multi-level, money-back haunted house myth. The only money-back haunted house that is known to exist is the Urban Legends Haunted House in Warren, Michigan. There are none in Illinois. It should be noted that this Michigan haunted house is a single-level attraction and they don't give you your money back if you make it through (as described in all the stories and rumors). Urban Legends Haunted House gives you your money back only if you find the “special hidden room” hidden within the maze.
How many floors is Statesville?? I heard that if you make it through the whole Haunted House, you get your money back or something. Is this true or no?
Are you dense? Two posts above yours someone quoted an article about how the refund is a hoax. Oh, sorry, you probably aren't dense, just too lazy to read.

No the statesville one is real. Heres a link that shows some information about it including website and phine number:http://q101.com/hauntedconnection/listings.aspx
Umm, nowhere on the Q101 site or the Statesville site did it say anything about a refund of your money if you make it all the way through. As a matter of fact, it says "No Refunds" on almost every page of the site.
