A very scary situation in Georgia. And forecast are calling for rain through Sunday.

That Mindbender shot is amazing as is seeing the Great American Scream Machine partly under water. I saw this at theme park review and wanted to post it here

Image

That also shows Wheelie under water as well and shows how high the water is in that part of the park. The full story also say the park wants to open this weekend. The link to the full story

Six Flags over Georgia plans to open this weekend, a park spokeswoman said Tuesday.

"We've handled floods in the past, and we know how to handle this," Kelton said.

Love the cockiness. Cant wait to see some pics from this weekend, hopefully theres no major damage.

The pictures you see here, while bad are nothing compared to the complete and total destruction that SFNO had with the 20+ feet of water that flooded the park.

Its not bad yes, but clearly, the equipment is UNDERWATER, if not underwater, the entire COASTER needs at least a few days to AIR DRY before they will even consider turning on the coaster and testing it and then at least a day or 2 of testing. How is that Wooden Coaster even gonna be SAFE for riding on when its partially submerged in water! Its gonna be MOLD and WARPED unless they have special coatings on it, if it keeps raining, the water will only get higher! I do not see it opening this weekend at all!

^It's pressure treated wood and that coaster has been underwater plenty of times.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Yeah, this happens at SFOG around every other year or so. All these coasters have been underwater many times and when SFOG installs a ride they take flooding into account. The only ride that ever has problems is Mindbender where I guess some footers are in loose soil that washes away every time it floods. Most if not all of the rides electronics and other mechanical systems are off the ground and protected from floods like this.

If the water does recede by like friday, I'd guess all rides would be open with the exception of Mindbender and probably the Enterprise.

^It has happened before, and it will happen again. I think they should get rid of that lake that's under Ninja. I think that would help the situation better when it happens next time.

I guess the good and bad thing about that park is that it is hilly past the Ninja area, so I'm guessing the water hasn't hit the front of the park because of that. The bad thing is all the water can travel downwards. Mind Bender is lower to the ground, and it also has sort of a lake.

Yea, and officials say that they want to open the park as soon as possible....I mean, I see building further under water in this park than I did at SFNO. Yeah, SFOG's buildings and shops look completely submerged. That will take forever to clean up.

Actually all this water comes from a nearby river/creek. Doesnt matter what they do, whenever the creek floods, it's going to fill up this part of the park.

Also that picture posted in or near the first post of this thread is about 6-7 years old, it's actually quite a bit worse this time. The water is well above the halfway point of that vertical loop.

Also the park had a press release today, there is no standing water in the park, and just about everything should be up and running tomorrow (so dont even think about discounted tickets)

^ In looking at the picture that Mike posted, I have what is probably a dumb question. Is that SFOG's Deja Vu sitting in pieces on the far right side of the picture in the field? I know they took it out, but did not know they stored it at the park.

That sure is SFOG's Deja Vu. Who knows what they are going to do with it. It's too bad it hasn't gone to another park.

That DV has 2 possible outcomes.

1. It sits and rots til it's unusable and it's sold for scrap or parted out (most likely)

2. Some other park buys it and installs it, like what happened to our DV.
