Hey everyone. Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit has soft opened on Saturday night after 2 days of employee previews. I got to ride Sunday. Here is a report for it:
I got a chance to ride the ride today and enjoyed it. We waited from 9 am until 12:30 pm when it opened. The line was 90 minutes to 2 hours the rest of the day with the single rider line filling up like crazy The coaster in no way, shape or form is worth the wait it has. But a 30-45 minute wait without a doubt.
The ride tends to be rough depending on the person. For me (5'7 and 240) it was quite rough in the section by Citywalk. For my fiancee, she thought it was rough after the loop. I heard the same things from other people that rode at the same time, some thought it was rough, some not.
The audio is a nice feature and basically makes the ride. This ride during the day without audio would be a boring ride. The bonus songs do work (112 or 122 is Freebird) but not all numbers do. I tried out 10 or so and had no luck. I went with the 902 Kermit song, but could not hear much of it. The audio does need to be turned up some, but it is true you can not hear the people next to you's audio.
Overall, the ride is good for the park. I defiantly think the coaster will be a night ride more then anything. I'd give it a 6/10, but might be higher at night.
Some notes
- The max height is 6'7. We thought it was 6'6, but the ops told it was 6'7. Also, it will be a tight fit to some people. I was able to get a few clicks, but I saw people around 260 getting rejected. I don't think there is a test seat yet, so it will be trail and error. Also, you will be given a chance at the bigger seats (not sure which ones) if you do not fit.
- Universal Express does not work on the ride and were told not to expect it to for a while.
- The lock ers are require for anything, including lanyards and fannypacks. They are free for the length of the que plus 1 hour.
- Lines were very short once the ride opened. The longest wait all day after it opened was 25 minutes on Simpsons. The week before has been at least a 60 minute wait during the day.
- They were having problems in the on-ride photo area. You can pay at the photo/video terminal or at the main photo store. Problem is, they were forgetting to check if they pre-paid. Also, our picture would not print, so it was sent to package pick-up, but was wrong photo. It was no problem to get ours once we went back, just some new ride problems that will get worked out.
- The on-ride photo prices are $17.95 for 5x7 and 19.95 for 8x10. The photo does have the date of the ride printed on the front.
- The on-ride video was being tried out and maybe working later in the day around 5. It looks like a neat feature, just unsure of price.
If there is anything else anyone wants to know, I can try to help.
Cool, I'm gonna wait till it officially opens and the offseason comes, don't want to wait in super long lines. But yea, it opened around 6 on Saturday, almost went, but someone didn't have a comp ticket to go, so we didn't go.

Got to ride it 2 yes its pretty rough but the coaster very quiet everytime it pass by the tracks its not that loud. The restraints are very heavy I could barely lift it up and yes when youre gonna ride the lines are going to be a very long wait depending on how busy the park is so go there first if you go to Universal Orlando when it officially open all in all a good coaster i would give at least an 8. Now Manta I would give a 10 if youre ever in SW ride it.
I rode it today cause of a small rumor I heard (nothing big) and the problems it's having, and here is my thoughts on it. Went early for obvious reasons, it opened at 10:40, which was I expecting to open late. Only had 2 trains running, same as last night (which I was on the stairs, waited 25 minutes to get there, before they closed for the night due to technical difficulties). I was actually disappointed with this ride, yes the non-inverting loop and treble clef were cool, but it was element to block to element to block. This ride had no flow in it whatsoever, hoping I just had a bad ride on it. The end was the most intense part though. Overall, I gave it a 7/10, but it got rounded up from 6.5. The music is just a gimmick, it basically takes your thought off the ride flow to the music. Mummy is the better coaster in the studios. On record, I did Eminem, Lose Yourself as my song, I am going to try Rainbow Connection by the Muppets next time I get on probably in October or so.

^ Don't waste your time on Rainbow Connection, it truly is a gimmick down the first drop and nothing more. I also could not hear much of the song after the drop except in the blocks.
You had the same review as me except I have rounded down to 6 for 6.5. Glad to see I was not the only one thinking the same thing. The public seemed to like it, but I wonder how much of that was the feeling of being able to ride it in the first few days it was open.
What is very odd is it was soft open with 3-4 cars, yet, it is officially open now with only 2? Also, the on-ride video is $40!!!!!!!!!! On top of that, you are only shown for 4 or so times in the video for less then 30 seconds total with most of the video being computer animated. This ride is one where the hit just keep coming.
Wow, no love for it here besides me. I got to ride it in a soft open on Monday Aug. 17th. I was at IOA that day and as that park was closing for the night, we noticed that there were people on HRRR, so we ran over to Universal Studios to get in line. It broke down about 5 times while we were waiting, but we only ended up waiting a total of about 90 minutes. I thought this ride was amazing. The vertical lift is something I had never experienced before and I really liked it, and for the first half of the course, it hauled ass and seemed to be loaded with airtime, especially around the block brakes. The second half of the ride died out a little, but it was still good. I also can't see how you thought it was rough; this is one of the smoothest coasters I have ever ridden. The ride itself is the best ride I have ever experienced, and this ranked in at #2 or 3 overall (I have other reasons why my #1 coaster will always be #1). I thought it was a great ride, but probably still shouldn't have officially opened yet because it's still not working correctly. I know the music still isn't working on some of the trains, and slightly more minor, the lights aren't working on some either. Through all that though, I think it's one of the best coasters I have ever ridden.
I do agree though that the video seems really stupid since it doesn't actually show you very often, and the price is really outrageous.
^if only you were given the opportunity to ride before the brake mods were added

Rode it two more times today. Again in row 6, still the same, kinda bleh and rough as hell. Then in row 4, let me say, this row rocked. There was a good amount of airtime and it ran well. Still the ride doesn't flow well, but after riding row 4, so far the best one I was on, it goes to a solid 7/10.
