in my opinion those players should all be suspended for at least 1 month (without pay) and face any legal action that the fans bring against them. I hope that the fans sue the NBA up the .... because professionals should know how to behave better. Yes the fans made a bad choice, but you HAVE to restrain yourself more. The fan would have been ejected regardless. Because of their actions innocent people were injured and children were subjected to that montrocity.
I was watching the game, and then it just all of a sudden happened. Artest initiated the contact on the foul and it could have been left like that. Ben Wallace is the person who actually started all the fights though.
You won't see the following players in the action for decent amount of time: Ben Wallace, Ron Artest(Maybe his rap album will do well.), Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal, and probably others.Artest will be out the longest.
The one fan shouldn't have thrown anything, but the players shouldn't have went into the crowds. They better be suspended for a long time and fined mega bucks. That's the only way you can teach them a lesson.
Oh, yeah, I would expect Detroit to limit the amount of beers they sell, because that was also a major factor in the brawl.

Anybody who watches the NBA regularly should notice Artest showed unbelievable restraint in just sitting there on the scorer's table. Im surprised he wasn't fighting Wallace afterwards. The fan just pushed him over the edge, but if somebody throws something at you like that most people and players would react in the same way. If your going to go into the crowd though...make sure you go after the right guy first. There's no way the guy who Artest originally tackled threw the cup since he had a cup in his hand when artest took him down.
As far as suspension go...I think the Indiana Players should be suspended until at least December 19th (right after they play the Bulls), and Wallace should be suspended until January 3rd (again, right after they play the Bulls). Because the Bulls need all the help they can get .
If I didn't care what happened to you
And you didn't care for me
We would zig-zag our way through the boredom of pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing

Does anyone know if any of those fans were arrested or fined? I also agree that Ben Wallace's fine should be much much more. I mean in the NBA there's fouls all the time, and he shouldn't have reacted like that. Everyone says this incident that this just proves again that Detroit is the butthole of the universe.
Good they deserved it. They get paid WAY too much money to react that way.
And as was stated by ESPN-Basketball already has an image that its full of thugs and this just sealed the deal. The suspensions were well deserved. This is a start to cleaning up the NBA.
And to counter the statement about any player would go into the stands if they had something thrown at them. ESPN talked to current and former NBA and NFL players about getting objects thrown at them. They say that they have been hit with beers (espically in the NFL) and batteries but there isnt much you can do. You just gotta take it in stride and channel your anger into the game. In baseball (the main sport I watch) I see stuff get thown onto the field at the players all the time. The only time I remember the players going into the stands was when a few Chicago fans took the Dodger's bullpen hats and ran. I don't think there was really a brawl there though.
Hopfully this will perminantly tanish these players images and hinder any future pay raises. Espiclky Johnson and O'Neal. There is no reason to attack a fan just for being on the court.

Ben Wallace did not punch an innocent fan, Jermaine O'Neal did, that's all there is to it. I would definitely not be suprised if charges are pressed on Artest, Jackson, and O'Neal.

But still it should have been more than 6 games. He started the whole thing by overreacting to a foul that wasnt that hard. 10-12 games he deserves in my opinion.

After hearing all this talk on ESPN about how this just shows how crappy our society is (which is complete BS in my opinion) I don't doubt at all that there will be multi-million dollar lawsuits against the three Pacer players.
Can anyone answer this question for me: Who was the guy in the brownish suit that beat the crap out of a fan during the brawl? Was it a coach?

Bulls win. Finally, it was an exciting win that was down to the wire. Hinrich and Gordon had great games. And the new starting lineup kept Eddy and Tyson fresh and they had pretty good games as well. Duhon (man he plays like a veteran) had a key play where he took a charge with seconds remaing. It was great to see a W after all of the 9 losses I have seen this year. The Jazz lost to the Hornets (were 0-8 ) a couple days ago, they have lost to the two worst teams in the past couple of days.
This Bulls team is very young, so the slow start is to be expected but I think they will get better and better as the year goes on. Now that they have showed they can win, I hope they can gain some confidence and put a few wins together now. They have the talent and the work ethic, just need the right mix between players. I think the lineup change tonight had a big difference.
Bleh, give me college basketball over NBA any day. Maybe if the NBA ever tried to gain some class, or play something i like to call DEFENSE, i'd watch it. Ever since Jordan left the Bulls, it's went downhill for the whole league.
Illinois baby! #4 in ESPN and #5 in AP! Can't get much better than that!
