It's interesting how quickly the ride came up, and how slowly the theming is coming along now. I thought they would have had those canyons finished by now, or at least the tunnel under the lift and station. However, I'm not a professional builder, so i could be missing something.

They haven't enclosed the tunnel because they don't want the track obstructed in case there is a problem somewhere in the tunnel.
Some rock work i am guessing should be taking shape by the end of the month.

most rock work consists of sprayed concrete, despite being Exothermic you really cant apply it when it's real cold out or obviously when it's raining/snowing, they could be waiting for better weather also (not that I've been following Maverick or it's construction, and outside of NCC, probably havent seen a single pic of it, I too am following Mystery Mine)

Maverick is officially opening LATE. Three sections of track need to be replaced somewhere after the launch tunnel (possibly removing the Zero-G Roll ). Cedar Point now estimates the ride will open in early June.
"The ride element where the track is being replaced is a tight, 360-degree spiral called a heartline roll. Asked if that element is being changed or removed entirely, Mr. Edwards said, “It might be. It could be. A decision hasn’t been made yet. I have not heard what plans there might be to correct it.”"

I know, what is that?! no way. I was so shocked.
Were leaving May 18 after school to go all weekend. Its just the fact that weve been planning this since jeez, i dont know around September. ugh. wow ironic or not it just stinks. but hopefully itll make it better and theyll work all out soon

It looked way too tight.
I agree, i was thinking from the beginning that that heartline roll would make any headbanging on Shockwave seem like little pain. It's probably for the better, can you imagine 30 years down the road? We'll be telling stories of how it used to have 1 more inversion, but it was demolished before a SOUL could ride.

In fact, we’ve heard that possibly the only person to actually have ridden it so far may have been Intamin’s own Sandor who apparently made some comments about it being a little rough. It seems the initial reports about the actual sections of track that need to be replaced may have been off... the three track pieces may actually be the heartline roll after the launch that is very close to the ground. Since the old roll didn’t pass the tests it seems, the new track is thought to extend the heart-line roll out over more track.
actually all but one of the EuroFighters have 97 degree drops, only Mystery Mine has a 95 degree drop, so if Mystery Mine had opened later or Maverick earlier I guess CP could have claimed the only 95 degree drop to add to their pointless record books
Luckily Gerstlauer makes Reliable rides, and Intamin sticks with the usual stuff

UPDATE:
The height requirement has been changed from 48" to 52".

How far back has the park known this would happen? From the official announcement until the work that has already been started, it seems as if this is something they have known for quite a while, and not just an overnight "we decided to fix after someone rode it", especially since the project was started prior to opening last season.
I'm aware that errors do happen and CAD programs on computers are only as smart as the person that inputs all the data, so where along the design line, did someone not realize the measurement(s) were off?
Some disappointing news from Cedar Point regarding Maverick:
Many people have asked us if the heartline roll inversion will stay.
It will not.
Instead, this section of track will be replaced with what’s known as an “s-curve” section of track.
Upon launching out of the tunnel, the train will dive towards the pond as it’s turning to the right. Once into the canyon, the train will then turn to the left as it approaches the rest of the track layout. This “s-curve” can best be described as a quick change in direction from right to left. Riders will remain above the track during this “s-curve.”
In addition, IntaRide, Maverick’s manufacturer, has recently revised the height requirement for Maverick. Riders must now be 52 inches or taller to ride.
