Kingda Ka at sfga?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I was just watching a video on ttd, and after the coaster gets past the launch track, the brakes activate until the next train.

The brakes activate no matter what. It's a fail safe deal.

I have a video if you would want it of a rollback, but it's of Top Thrill Dragster. PM if you want it.

EDIT: I thought I had it uploaded but here is a link.

No, there are brakes on the launch track and it stops the train when that happens.

^ Yes, KK does have it also. It is kind of hard to see whats happening becuase its dark and the person was out of control with the camera.

When the trains on TTD OR KK are being launched they are cocked back and the magnetic brakes lower into the track, then they are launched...after a certain point the fins rise again in case of rollback.

Actually I take back what I said about not wanting a kk. I think it would be a good thing to replace ae with if it would fit.

^ Thats the spirit! KK is a possible coaster that could eventually replace ae, but kk is 420 feet so we may have a problem.

The village can allow it if they vote on it. Does sfgam own the pond next to suf? If so they could drain that and build a floorless etc withought getting anyone mad.

The pond is very close to houses. If they tried to build there, the neighbors would raise all hell, and I doubt Great America would be allowed to build there.

Yeah, only, since 330 feet tall isn't that tall in the first place.

Why would we want a Kingda Ka anyway? I'd rather have a custom track that was more original then just a Launch - Top hat - Hill - Brakes. I'm thinking more Storm Runner-esque.

I agree only I would like it to be realy high then bust into more of a ride!

That "pond" is just water retention for the parking lot.

^ Not a big deal. Pumping water out of a pond to put a fire out actually makes since for a theme park.
No, this is not another rumor. This is a "what if we go it". Where would it go? I think if they took out eagle, there might be enough room to build it there. Now, Im not saying eagle is a bad ride and they should get rid of it, but Im guessing it's not going to be around forever and sfga does not have a lot of land for a new coaster. I was just thinking of how cool it would be if we got KK.
They could build it around american eagle and make it go in the coaster and passover it just like goliath in magic mountain then again their better off making a superman escape type kind of ride but make it 500 ft in height add a twist on top just like v2 and place it beside the eagle now this would make a nice ride for their 30th and put sfga back on the record books. besides theres not much houses by the washington entrance and less people be complain at sfga cause of the noise.
