They're obviously going for the whacky theme Wiggles brought, its pretty hard to cover it up once its there. They're making it even whackier. Big Red Cars could be called, Big Green, Purple, and Yellow Cars, and Splish Splash Zone is blue gray and red. So its pretty hard to color up bright colors without extensive work.
Plus remember, they're just kids rides. most people just say, the car ride, that plane ride, the swinging one, OR (my favorite) that pirate ship spinning thing thats fun and not really a kids ride.

Dead on here. If there are no characters attached, no one really cares about the name.
This is AWESOME! All of us who have been "screaming" for this should be uniting in applause. Now it means that Six Flags and the parks have a chance to be C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E again! Consider this an early Christmas present, and late Hanukkah gift to most of the members of these boards. It seams like these new guys are trying to get back to the "THEME" aspect of how things go. Getting rid of the corporate branded crap is just the first step. I totally understand the recent family friendly aspect now too. It seems that the incoming management has had a hand in trying to "go back in time" or reset the image the company has had over the last few to 15 years. Riptide Bay is a part of these changes and good ones at that.
Had the old management been behind the Hurricane Harbor expansion it might have been like the "Riptide Bay presented by Capri Sun" or something like that. I also think that the new guys are gonna return this system to a "park=franchise" kind of thing.
With some of the broad sweeping changes, I think, they want to test waters some more. They seem to want to get input from the parks and their patrons. I might be wrong, but it seems like some of the moaning and complaining here might not have fallen on deaf ears. That doesn't mean SFGAm is going to get a huge new mega super coaster anytime soon, but it seems like these guys want to improve and look to the past and head to the future....

Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.
Agreed about it being nice that Six Flagsis trying to be creative again, however the last time Six Flags had any real creative force was back when Time Warner owned the chain (well, like 51% of it), it's a lot easier to theme stuff when you have the backing of a major film studio and a whole creative team. It seems though now that all the major new rides are still going with DC comics theme. And also to be fair Time Warner was clearly running out of ideas as well when they ran it with a slew of Viper and Ninja coasters being bestowed upon the parks.
I think it remains to be seen if SF is trying to be creative because they want to be, or if they're being forced into it solely because they no longer want to pay licensing fees.

Fruit salad will actually open? It was closed for half of this season lol. Krazy Kars is probably the worst rename....words spelled with a "K" instead of a "C" just isn't appealing to me....at all.

The Great Escape has renamed Bugs Bunny National Park as Timbertown and renamed all the rides. This is very concerning. I had no problem with them dumping the stuff they've dumped so far, but if they dump Looney Tunes . . . .

Oh no....

Between this and the Cedar Fair/Q funding saga this is shaping up to be a rough time for regional parks. Both companies seem to be killing all cost to make the cash flow look better to investors. Not the best idea for long term planning.
When it comes to re-theming I was hoping they would at least shorten the pre-show so that they could consistently fill trains but it looks like they made the preshow the same length (which looks to all be filler stuff anyway) and trains are still going out half empty . It sucks waiting in a long line for Terminator and one out of every 3 trains going by half-empty because there was not enough space between the pre-show and loading station to hold enough people to fill the trains.
A very good update from Theme Park Review. I'm suprised that land clearing hasn't started for the Green Lantern. Speaking of Green Latern, the one at GADv, correct me if i'm wrong, still hasn't gone vertical yet!
^^It looks like they just took a board and painted it, then slapped it over the terminator logo. That makes it lose it's "texture" like the new Raging Bull sign.
