Linear Induction Motors always make that "weird" sound.

I know what you mean. When it hold you up on the back spike it stops you, shakes you just a little bit and makes a "weird: noise.

well, since i haven't replied to this one, I think my favorite coaster is Voyage. I haven't been on many, but I think this is my favorite.

Location: waiting to ride the next big rollercoaster.

Favorite wood: not many choices, but Viper (probably would be anyway) I love how you go up really fast and just inch over the drop.

Steel: tie between Rock n Rollercoaster and Everest. On everest you have to ask for the back row and ride on the right side. You will not be disappointed. on Rock n rollercoaster, when the lines are long (this applies to EE too) take the single rider line. And talk to workers. You get perks. Steel is probably gonna change cause we're gonna go to CP this summer.

I love that on Viper where you do go up fast and then it almost completely stops towards the top as you go down.

My favorite by far was Expedition Everest, even though it's not that trilling to me anymore (it was one of my first coasters)

It's at Disney World (animal kingdom)

But now..............my fav. is Superman Ultimate Flight

I tend to separate Six Flags coasters with Disney's because they are 2 different types of parks.

Yes. It's much like rides like Top Thrill Dragster. There is no actual friction between the brakes and the train.

TTD doesn't use LIM. It uses a cabled launch, which I believe is generated by compressed air and the brakes fins with hydraulics, which is a complicated system. I believe that TTD does use friction brakes, but I may be wrong.

You're correct Dragster uses a launched cable, with the fins on top for resistance if it rolled back.

Dragster does use a cable to move the train, it's powered by the release from a hydraulic accumulator system. The nonfixed brake fins on the launch are pnuematic (hopefully raised mechanically and lowered pnuematically, but I wouldn't put it past Intamin to do it vise versa). The final brakes on the ride are fixed in place brake fins. All braking on the ride is frictionless magnetic eddy current brakes, aka a linear inductive dynamic braking system if you will. And what actually stops and then holds the train is kicker tires that are locked in place (until they turn on and move the train)

The only amusement park I have ever been to is SFGAm (gasp), so out of all of our coasters my favorite is V2.
