X-Flight at Geauga Lake being removed.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Chitown on November 22nd, 2006, 3:00 pm
Heard rumors about this a few weeks back but now it's official. The Vekoma flyer (X-Flight) is being relocated to another CF park that is currently unknown.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Wow...this lowers the chances of me making the 5 hour trip out to Geauga Lake. Any leads on where X Flight will end up?

Let's See...

Eliminate:
Geauga Lake - Duh...
Great America - Already had one named Stealth which was moved to...
Carowinds - ...and named Borg Assimilator.
Cedar Point - No room, already getting Maverick this year.
Knott's Berry Farm - No room.
Valleyfair! - Already getting Renegade
Bonfante Gardens - Family park, I highly doubt it will go there.

So that leaves:
Michigan's Adventure
Doney Park
Carowinds
Kings Dominion
Kings Island

Ah God I'm really out of the coaster loop. Cedar Fair actually did buy Parmound out. Gah...I'm really bummed now. I can see Dorney or Michigan's Adventure getting X-Flight.

Michigans Adventure would really benefit from X Flight however I keep hearing the rumor that Kings Island will be getting a flyer, I guess take it for what it's worth.

Carowind already has a flyer coaster so you can eliminate that too.

Great America - Already had one named Stealth which was moved to...
Canada's Wonderland - ...and named Borg Assimilator.

That got moved to Carowinds, not Canada's Wonderland.

I've heard PKI all over the place.

Im happy for X-Flight. It was the only good coaster at Geauga Lake. It deserves a much better home.

Nah, i got my money on a Kings Island Park. Those are the only two that could easily afford the coaster. The others could, but i dont know how well theyd do after that, I mean with ride running costs and all. And if they dont get it than most likely Michigan will, the REALLY need a good coaster.
YEA!!!! THREE MONTHS TO GO!!!!!!!

Yeah, their best coaster there, now that X-Flight is gone. Removing X-Flight is a perfect way to boost attendance. If they ever replace it with something else, in my opinion it's not going to be worth it, because I personally think it's fine where it is.

If they seriously decide to move it to Kings Island, or even Cedar Point for that matter, then that would be pretty stupid.

This probably wont keep me from going there this summer. I still want to ride Dominator.

I dont think X-Flight is going anywhere next year since its being dismantled so late in the year. Here are my eliminations and park possibilities.

Eliminate:
Geauga Lake - Obvious
Great America - Removed Stealth for Boomerang Bay. Relocated Stealth to Carowinds.
Carowinds - Stealth relocated here and is now BORG Assimilator.
Bonfante Gardens - Family Park.
Canada's Wonderland - Tomb Raider: The Ride is a Zamperla flyer.

Possibilities:
Michigan's Adventure - Bad coaster collection and not enough attendance to support X-Flight.
Valleyfair! - I dont think X-Flight would be a good fit but Valleyfair! could use another major coaster.
Worlds of Fun - I dont know if theres enough attendance to support X-Flight but could use another major coaster.
Cedar Point - I think X-Flight would be a pretty good addition. I think Cedar Point would rather have a custom flyer but would probably settle for X-flight. I dont think it would be a good idea to relocate X-Flight here because its too close to Geauga Lake. Cedar Point already has enough coasters.
King's Island - I think X-Flight would be a pretty good addition as well. Like Cedar Point I think its too close to Geauga Lake and has enough coasters.
King's Dominion - I think X-Flight would be a pretty nice addition but has enough coasters.
Dorney Park - I think X-Flight would be a great addition. X-Flight would compliment the other major coasters. The only bad thing is that Batwing wouldnt be too far.
Knott's Berry Farm - I think this is the best park for X-Flight. X-Flight would be a great addition and would compliment the other major coasters. X-Flight is a Vekoma flyer so Tatsu isnt a concern.

I think this ride is highly necessary at Michigan's Adventure. It's far enough away from it's location now to be called a new ride in the public's eyes, but at the same time, not far enough to cost that much to move it. I also think it is something that is necessary at Michigan's Adventure. They have 1 steel coaster!!! They need another, and with Shivering Timbers more than doing it's part to hold up the wooden coaster field, it's time to help the steel coaster aspect. Plus, with the addition of the new Grand Rapids (the most expensive addition in a while), the park could use an addition that won't cost a lot of money, and a used ride might be the answer to that.

However, despite my wishes, all signs are pointing towards Kings Island :(

^That one i knew about and didn't count, and I forgot about the wild mouse, but still, they need a new steel coaster, one that holds up to the intensity that a steel coaster could be.
