Big Chief opening day

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby TrimBrake on March 15th, 2004, 9:02 pm
I'm taking a trip up to the Dells at the very end of March, and was wondering if I could count on getting a few laps on Cyclops and Zuess. I visited the park's website, and it looks like the park is open Mid March-Memorial Day, but it doesn't appear to have any set dates, or information on whether or not the coasters are operating. Anyone know if there's a set date that the park opens?

BIG CHEIF UPDATE:

I emailed Big Cheif regarding opening day a few nights ago and got the responce of: "We will not be opening mid-march as planned, but mid-april weather permitting. Sorry for any inconveniance (sp?)"

So don't plan a trip to Big Cheif anytime soon

Yep that was me, i emailed big cheif about a month ago and they said they wouldn't open until then, but who knows that place seems unpredictable.

Yeah, you have to realize that weather in WI around this time of the year is very unpredictable. Just a few weekends ago it was 45 degrees. Just these past two days it begins snowing again.

Go figure!

MOUNT OLYMPIS will most likely open without the coasters anyway

I went mid-April a couple years ago all the rides were closed besides the go-cart tracks (the water one was closed).

The water one was closed to the public all of last year due to it going a little faster then they expected. Just whatever you do, dont go looking for informatoin on their website...it still thinks that the water-coaster is called "Triton"

It sure seems as if this park, or should we say Go-Kart/Coaster area, isn't very organized. How are the park operations in general, for those whom have been there before?

Not good. Customer service is terrible, but you'll have that in the Dells.

Why is that? It looks like such a great place to visit. But I have been hearing more and more lately about some of the poor customer service up there.
Sounds pretty dissapointing :? .

Well don't let that change anything... Sure customer service isn't the greatest, but the coasters are worth it. Besides you don't really have to deal with customer service a whole lot anyway. Only when you're buying your tickets (unless you have some other problem I suppose).

Big cheif and alot of the dells is a horrible place to go some times because they hire foriegners that have no english. Big cheif needs to have a serious talk with the people that work there. Last year i saw an employ that was driving around in the golf carts there hit some lady and knock her over while she was alking. Pretty sad.

Thanks for the info. I am debating weather or not to take a trip up to the Dells this summer myself. Avalanche at Timber Falls is what really is pulling me in. While I am there I would love to hit Big Chief's as well.

The coasters do look great! I am not a huge person on looking for customer service, I was just curious since it is a large family destination.

Can anybody give me a word on how the trio of Big Chief's woodies are??

I'll be sure to watch out for the wild golf carts!!!

Pegausus is alright not to exciting but its a fun coaster. Zeus seems pretty tall since it is the tallest coaster in the park (and the dells) at a whopping 90ft but its just ok. Cyclops is great and the airtime is unbelievable its a great coaster.

Why do they have that sign that says you must be 18 or older to ride in the back row?

Wisconsin has strict laws like that on rollercoasters. If you ask me I think their pretty stupid because if they were really necassary then they would be in every state

The coasters at Big Chief are amazing, I think. It's well worth the trip. And there are no lines (for the most part anyway)!
