Since Kngda Ka opens...does Top Thrill loose its title?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby danieln84 on May 14th, 2005, 5:46 pm
Question.... Even though Kingda Ka has a HUMP on the return path. Does Kingda Ka Gain the Title Tallest/Fastest on the planet?(since its 456ft/128 vs ttd @ 420/120) taking the title away from Top Thrill? because TTD still calls themselves the tallest/fastest. lol

just wondering

P.S. i just got back from my cedar point trip yesterday. went on top thrill 8 times. god it was awsome

what does the hump have to do with it? Kingda Ka is taller and faster than any other coaster on the planet period. and not because of the bunny hill.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Well, you obviously guessed wrong. I got a question for who asked this question. Why wouldn't Kingda Ka be the tallest and fastest coaster if it is 456 ft tall and 128 mph? I dont know why you would think that, but it is the tallest and fastest coaster in the world, but for how long??

well thanks for re-phrasing my post, but I don't see your point. I think everyone gets it now and we don't need to repeat the same info over again unless the original poster is still confused as to how a record is broken

True True. TTD still gains the title until this ride opens. As soon as Kingda Ka opens, CP will have to change that, or it will be false advertisement.

Umm...Kingda Ka already broke the record after the first dispatch that they cycled it on as for speed. The height record was taken away after they completed the circuit of the ride. That is if you want to get technical.

okay, but when you quoted me, you didn't add anything to the conversation. you simply rephrased what I said. which makes your post unnecessary. if you don't have anything to add the the convo, then there's not much reason to post except to add to your post count which isn't highly respected anywhere let alone here.

I'm heading up there this weekend and we were thinking:

If Ka launches a train Friday morning, then CP needs to change all their flags and other themeing that says "worlds tallest" so my friend and I raised questions:

Would it close the ride friday?

Do they already have the new themeing ready to go and in storage?

Will they have some sort of ceremony?

Anyone wanna bet Ka breaks down at least once the first day?

Most importantly the first question though :?

CP is not going to close a main attraction to change some signs unless SF lawyers are there with court orders. you may see the signs come down eventually, but the ride will continue to operate in the meantime.

Agreed. Although war between theme chains can get dirty sometimes, I don't think that they are going to care if the signs are taken down the MOMENT of launch. Now as for TV commercials, you probably wont be seeing any advertising CP as having the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world anytime soon, maybe in the midwest.

Oh, SFGaBob-I got a kick out of your sig.
