Firsts, Fastest, Tallest in__ Do I care?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I'm watching the travel channel this week because they have waterpark specials along with coaster specials. Just to let you know (if you have cable), starting at 4:00 central 7:00 tonight Friday (3/18) they have some rollercoaster specials.

Anyway the point I'm trying to make is that rollercoasters are usually classified as first, tallest, fastest etc. in absolutely dumb ways. During that special (or even in theme park's eyes), you might hear that this rollercoaster is the first ____ in the Northeast. Wow, that gets me excited now. They don't even say just North. For instance, SUF is the first flying coaster in the Midwest (or something like that).

There's really two much hype for rollercoasters being this or that. When you start classifying it so particular, it becomes stupid to even say it. One thing that should said is something like the Son of the Beast being the only wooden coaster with an inversion.

If Viper magically gets a inversion, I would predict people to say that the Son of the Beast is the only rollercoaster in the ____ to have an inversion which just seems dumb.

Agreed. I'm still waiting for Cedar Point to use the line of, "Top Thrill Dragster, Tallest Coaster in Ohio!"

Yeah I agree. I watched a lot of those coaster shows and I have to say I'm very disappointed. I saw 3 different SLC's with interview's saying that it was the "best coaster they've been on"

I will admit that the special on X was very cool.

They will probably advertise it more as "The first 400 foot roller coaster in the world!" just to piss off SFMM even more!

There is nothing bad with that --- anyways --- I like the specials on the discovery channel but they never show it no more does anybody know if they will show it in the summer this year? What pissed me off is that they would never talk about SFGAm and we have better ride ( well not better than some parks ) but they didnt talk about Ragin Bull and admit it Goliath is basically the same of RB just its a different type ( hypertwister? ) also Viper is the same as Shockwave just taller but since Viper opened later they would talk about that more often, they barely mention that B:TR came for SFGAm and if you do hear that tell me.
No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.

Well, a better quote would be "The First 400 foot Full Circuit Rollercoaster"
Bit I do consider S:TE the first 400 footer in the world
