This construction company must have streamlined the process, cos like you said, TTD took forever.

They are way behind though. Top Thrill Dragster was topped out on December 13, 2002 with just a few more track pieces to add near the brakes and launch track.

The sad thing though is that SfGadv opens in April and the park also has a whole new section to add at the same time. Can you say Summer opening?

Yeah I agree. When a park is building a coaster that will make them known around the world I think they are going be sure to open it when it is supposed to be. This is Six Flags chance to really grab the spotlight, and I don't think they plan on screwing it up.

Wow, are you sure TTD was topped off on December 13th 2002? I remember reading that it was far after that. I have heard that progress is moving much quicker on KK than TTD. They already have the 2nd hill finished as well remember. I think that construction so far has gone quite well, but since it's a "Six Flags" ride nobody thinks it'll open for a long time. I think KK will have a much better opening that TTD did and I also believe it will be reliable throughout next season.

Yes, TTD was topped off on Dec. 13, 2002. They are working quite quickly on KK though, hopefully I'll get out there sometime next season.

TTD's construction started way before Kingda Ka's construction started this year. To say they are running behind just because it wasn't topped off at the same time is really jumping the gun. You have to remember Kingda Ka is taller then Dragster and has an extra hill to build as well.

I don't think they are behind, as a matter of fact it's amazing how quickly construction is going. Plus SFGAdv. hasn't even announced a opening date yet for this ride as far as I know. Just because it's not opened for opening day doesn't mean it's opening late....there Superman opened a few weeks after the park opened and I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same thing with Kingda Ka.

Yea I agree with you coasterdude. I remember being really mad back in october because they were WAY behind. top thrill dragster was allready like 200 feet tall before halloweekends. They started late on kk, but are working faster than any coaster construction I have ever seen.

Ok, Ok, I jumped the gun. MAYBE, a May opening. :D You have to remember that they also have to add a whole new section, so maybe the summer opening that I stated should go toward the whole project of the Golden Kingdom and not just Kingda Ka.

Kingda Ka is being erected by the same company that did TTD(Martin&Vleminckx). They with the expierience they got building TTD, they already knew all the tricks and quirks as it's bascially an identical ride. No learning curve on erecting this ride, so they were able to do it much faster, though actually it's about the same timeframe so far, as KK was started quite a bit later than TTD, and TTD was topped off already at this time last year.

Too bad that all of the actual track work isn't even finished yet.

This will definately not be open by SfGadv's opening day(March 25), but I hear that they have a target set to hopefully open it about a month after that.
