I was at ValleyFair back in Aug. and there was hardly any security there. I mean you didn't even have to walk through a metal detecter. I don't know maybe it's just a Six Flags thing and Cedar Fair must not do it.
Cedar Fair Parks do not have Metal Detectors at the front of there gates. All Six Flags parks and Paramount Parks do. I heard that Disney is currently testing them to see if it is worth installing.

Also the Security Guards at Cedar Point carry guns... So, dont line jump at CP..Otherwise....
youll get kicked out of the park, what did you think i was going to say?  
But seriously, i think Sandusky has a police station in Cedar Point, so those guards might be Sandusky Police. 
They do have a police station in Cedar Point I had to go there when I lost my phone.
Just because you didn't see security at VF doesn't mean they weren't there.
