Hi guys, my name is Jonathan, i'm a ride operator for X at six flags magic mountain...im sure you guys know about it. I was surfin the net on some info about Deja Vu and I happen to stumble upon yours. Its awesome. We have one just like it. Same things, forums and all. I just wanted to say how lucky you guys are that your Deja Vu has its train back and i hope running. Ours has been down since the middle of june, and wont be getting back up until the summer season. I was kinda sad on the last day that we ran it. We kept it open for one hour past park hours so the employees can ride it one last time. I'm still certified at that ride, and hopefully everythings the same as in panel wise and well all that technical stuff.I was on the Deja Vu crew for almost 4 months, then I got sent to X. Its cool at X, kinda loud though cause of the station music. Well anyway, like I said, its really cool that your Deja Vu is workin. Ours is just sitting there, they removed the train but its sitting under the ride next to it Psyclone. Anyways, your site looks awesome. Peace.
It's nice that ours is finally running, but it wasn't open when I went to really ride it. I know we have labor problems, and that seems to be the reason more than a broked ride being one. I did finally get to ride it twice this year.It must be fun in its own way to be a ride op. I don't know if I would want to be one though. Restraunts are ruined because I work at one, I wouldn't want Great America turning like that too.Welcome to the forums !
being a ride op is pretty fun. if you work with people your age, its like a constant hang out...like lunch or something. i work at X, we dont really get to talk. but its awesome. we get to ride on our breaks but anyways, its really fun. but it gets boring at times when your at main control panel pressing the same buttons. X has a computer by Dell. theres solitare and all that, but we cant use it, only mechanics. Saying "advance to lift, advance to unload, advance to load, and rotating seats" gets kinda boring after a while.
I was on the Six Flags Great America site looking for an internship for engineering because of my career field since I'm majoring in structural engineering/civil engineering. For most positions, I think I saw that you had to be 19. Just go to sixflags.com/greatamerica and job oppurtunities. I don't remember where it's at on the page, but I know you can apply online. They even have a recruitment video on there. I'm not doing the ride op thing so I'm not sure, but I think it said 19. If I find the page I'll post the url.
Need a break from college homework.. 2004 season, come faster!!

At Magic Mountain, its pretty different. If your 15, you can only work in food. And when your 16, you can work in operations wich includes rides, merchandise, etc. yea you gotta be 18 to be a security gaurd. and they dont let you work more than 8 hours if your a minor. but if you graduate and your like 16 or 17, then u can work over time wich is awesome. But i guess like anywhere else, you gotta start out small. I started at the Grand Carousel. Then I went to Psyclone. Moved to Deja Vu where i was for 4 months, Deja Vu closed, and now Im at X.
Woo! Mountees here I come! The six flags security looks like the royal mounted police in good ol' Canada! Eh? I've gotten looks more than once for calling security mountees. Its all in good nature. If I did work at a Six Flags park, I would want to be security. Just looks fun. Crack down on line jumping!
