I rode Thunderhead

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby EVOed8 on April 7th, 2004, 11:46 am
I rode Thunderhead on Monday and have a new number 1 wooden coaster. For anyone who knows me, for the past 4 years I've held Holiday World's Legend close to my heart, as it provides a near "perfect" ride. I've always considered it's fast paced, intense as hell layout a knockout, and assumed nothing could ever beat it. Well, it has been done. Thunderhead is what I've always wanted in a wooden coaster. It's layout is intense, twisted, has airtime, and is full of suprises. These terms sound generic, but my god after you ride it you will know what I mean. There is not one straight part of the ride, not one dead spot, not one part where I wish it did something different (on Legend there are things I'd do to change the layout, not on this though), it is just... perfection. I went in knowing this ride would break into my top ten, never number one though. Thunderhead is an UNBELIEVEABLE coaster, and I cannot wait to ride it again in 2 weeks at the ACE event. For anyone who doubted this coaster... it is the real thing.

Wow, sounds pretty good. It looked like it was going to be good when they were building it and it seems as though it has lived at least up to your expectations, if not surpassing them. Good ol' Viper is still my #1 but I haven't ridden many wooden rides. Oh well.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull

Wait time was maybe 4-5 trains. Not bad at all.

Hey now, that fist shaking was uncalled for :)

Or was it?, either way

Thunderhead is as good as Scott says and then some, good old 10 minute line, 2 train op, was a beautiful sight. Easily my #2 wood out of my 114 ridden wood coasters, and if I ever get night rides on it I can easily see it taking the #1 spot from Raven (current #1), and TN Tornado aint half bad either.

Nah, missed the event deadline, I'll go back at least 2-3 more times later in the year though(always room in the car for non-deadbeats, and for once that also includes Scott S. :) ).
I'd be more interested in riding it mid summer when it's warmed up and hopefully at least a fairly dark twilight ride :)

Not to say I wouldnt go back anytime I possibly could, perhaps in conjunction with PKI as it is the halfway point :)

Oh man your parents suck they wont let you go on a road trip with people twice your age that they've never met .

I would really like to ride Thunderhead, looks like a nice ride but I dont see myself leaving the Cook/Lake county area anytime soon, lol.
