New Fantasyland for WDW in 2013 and Star Tours 2.0

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

The announcement on the new Fantasyland at WDW complete with Little Mermaid E-ticket http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-bl ... ey-w-5359/

20 pieces of concept are for Fantasyland http://www.attractionsmagazine.com/blog ... ney-world/

Words can not state how excited I am for the new Fantasyland. It is what the park needs, will help with the traffic and give the park a nice sit-down meal area. The new Dumbo area (which, along with Pixie Hollow) looks to be taking over Towntown Fair, which is a even better deal.

Star Tours needs the update badly and should workout well. The 3-D idea is a good one and should help the experience. I just still hope they are going with the multiple scene idea where you never quite know what story you will see. This also should help the Toy Story Mania crowds once open, as I still see there being a massive line for that ride in 2 years.

Overall I can not wait to start watching the building progress once I move in July :D

^ World of Color would be nice. Too bad there is no place for it at WDW.

The only thing that surprised me is the lack of anything for EPCOT. Journey Into w/ Figment has been rumored for a while to get a refurb. But there is always next D23. No matter what, I am very happy with what WDW is getting.

They are redoing the exteriors of the Peter Pan, IASW and Pinocchio building. Small world and Peter Pan were just done and the tarps were up not too long ago on Pinocchio. But it is needed, Fantasyland looks bad on the other side, not much there, seems like an empty space.

I think these new additions look really great, but I personally think that it's going to take too long to open all this stuff. I rather see half of it actually DONE in 2011, and half in 2012 with the Pixie stuff in 2013. Instead, they are saying it's all going to be done by a certain date. I won't say they NEED this, but I think that anything more princess in that park is a great thing. It just adds too fantasyland.

And again saying there is nothing for boys in that park is ridiculous in my opinion (It might be more on the merchandise side that they don't have enough, but not in that park - Magic Kingdom)

For boys:
Basically all of Tommorrowland including
Space Mountain
TTA
Carousel of Progress (everyone really)
Buzz Lightyear
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Dumbo (either or)
Small World (either or)
Haunted Mansion
Splash Mountain
Pirate's of the Carribean
Carpets (either or)
Jungle Cruise
Peter Pan (sort of for boys   )
Presidents (either or)

The park isn't all princesses, but more of them won't hurt. :D

Fantasyland is scheduled to open in phases. Expect everything up to Pixie Hollow to be completed on time.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

^ Correct on that. Disney said they did not want to close anything during this process. They should be able to keep all of Fantasyland west open during this except Dumbo for it's removal.

I fully except the phases to be:

Phase 1 (2012) - The biggest phase with the Little Mermaid E ticket, Beauty and the Beast castle and most of the pricess meet and greets opening.

Phase 2 (2013)- Rework of Dumbo opens along with the refurbishment on Mad Tea Party and Barnstormer

Phase 3 (2013-2014) - Pixie Hollow replaces Toontown Fair. This area could open with phase 2 depending on what they do with the Fab 5 meet and greets.

Depending on when they start phase 2, the guest should so no ride closures due to the expansion until then. Even when phase 2 and 3 start, the park is only loosing Toontown, Dumbo and Mad Tea Party.

Your dates are not what I've heard. All of Fantasyland should be done by 2012, but Pixie Hollow will be 2013. Work has been started for this already. Most of it is survey work, but actual construction is starting next year, but heard as early as next month, so I'm not sure on that, maybe just ground prepping.

^The dates I had were due to what I heard as trying to keep Toontown open as long as possible. It was also so they could keep Dumbo open during phase 1 for capacity issues.

Who knows, maybe in a few years Magic Kingdom will be equal to if not better than Disneyland.

...:shudder: I can't believe I just said that.
