Magic Water Typhoon Terror New Ride and New Website

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on May 25th, 2009, 8:27 am
Typhoon Terror has debuted at Magic Waters waterpark in Rockford. To me, it looks like it's going to be better than the Tornado, and it has a hint of the Dark Voyage at Noah's Ark. I hope it's going to be great. The slide is located next to the Abyss (seen on the map), and thankfully the tube tan slides aren't taken out as I thought. It costs 1.5 million.

There is a video in this article so click on it.

The website also got a overhaul. They are a little scared of Raging Waters in Yorkville. That is there big competition.

This is one of those Proslide Tantrums correct?
I'll have to check this out later in the summer; always been interested in the concept.

^The water coaster is worth it enough to go there. To get more airtime on it, don't sit all the way to the back of the raft though.

I passed by it when driving to Mt. Olympus on Monday. It looks like a neat ride; I wouldn't mind riding it this summer. Construction on the Interstate is a pain though...

If you just want to ride the coaster, I think they have a Late Gate Admission on Tuesdays.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

Rockford area does not have lights on the Road Signs (At least the last time I went on 06)

The water coaster doesn't have the greatest capacity, and the line can be quite big. It might take 25 -40 minutes for one ride during the more packed time.

UPDATE:

I went to the park, and rode the Typhoon Terror. This slide just reminds me of a much smaller Tornado. There is nothing much to it. I thought it was going to be dark the rest of the slide, but that didn't happen like the Dark Voyage.

For the water coaster, the capacity was better, but it broke down at least 3 times. This is unless people were standing, or doing something wrong, and they shut it down. Anyway, the new thing was either the rafts (2 of the rafts looked older though) or the conveyor belt that goes into the station. The rafts finally go up the belt without the lifeguard have to shove it. Thus, without the lifeguard doing that, they were allowing about 3 rafts up the lifthill at a time. That it is really fast if you knew how I experienced it last year.

They had tons of workers on this ride. I couldn't believe it. They were stationed everywhere. I don't know why?? You say for safety, but what about the tube slides? They don't have a worker stationed every 10 feet for them?

I live about 8 minutes from Magic Waters. I'm in Rockford just north of it and I recently rode Typhoon Terror about a month ago. I have to say, it was pretty fun for a smaller ride. However, you only last about 3 "swishes" in the bowl and already fall out of it into the actual slide part. Splash Blaster is still my ultimate favorite. I have a video I'll post on Youtube about it soon that I took.

^Splash Blaster's lift always breaks down when I go.

I also recently went to Magic Waters. I thought Typhoon Terror was going to be better than it was. Tornado is much better in my opinion. Also, Splash Blaster was pretty freakin' awesome, being my first water coaster. The only time the ride went "down" when we were in line was when someone was "hurt", and I don't know how they got hurt or whatnot.

It really is just a smaller Tornado, but its still a fun ride and fits in well for that park.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
