ACE coastercon coming to SFGAM in 2005 and a question??

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Bob O on October 14th, 2003, 12:11 pm
I just received my ACE news in the mail and listed for upcoming events was news that SFGAM will be part of coastercon 2005 with the other park to be announced. I think this is great news and should mean another ACE event this summer as a prelude. Now what other park do you think will be part of the coastercon??? I have heard a rumor about Big Chiefs but IMHO that doesnt sound right and i guess no one priced hotels in that area in June. Their will be few hotel deals to go around and much more expensive than ACE hotel rates i have seen in flyers. I would perfer Holiday World. So what are your thoughts on this??

The only parks really near SFGAm are Big Chiefs, Santa's Village, Kiddieland, Safariland (can you imagine a ACE Event thier lmao), and Indiana Beach.Personally I think it would be cool for it to be a SFGAm/IB event if you ask me, both parks are reasonable close and 2 of my favorites. :)Im not a ACE member, but do they allow non-ACE Members to attend at a additional fee or do you have to be a ACE member to go to this event.Mod note: Use correct puncuations.Dave's Response: I flunked English twice, I have a excuse. :) You complain about my grammar but nobody complains about me double posting? :)

Now Dave, you know there is supposed to be a question mark there? Lets get with the grammar rules here! :lol:According to ACE's website they say,
If you will be attending events with a family member, it will probably be more cost-effective to add them to your membership instead of paying the non-member rates for them to register for the event since the non-member rate is usually $15-25 higher per event.
I don't know if this applies you (not having a family member being an ACEer) but it looks like it might be expensive. I don't know If I could handle all thoes coaster enthusiasts. They are too hard core. I talked to one guy in line for Superman and he wouldn't stop ripping on Great America. So therefore, I would never join ACE nor would I ever want to go to their events.

I added a note on his post. Shame on you, Dave, how dare you not set a good example. :lol:And Aero, I know what you mean by not ever wanting to join an enthusiast club. I don't go to parks to talk about coasters, rip on other parks, praise other parks, or whatever, especially with people I don't know. I go to have a good time with my family and friends.I know when I planned my trip to CP, I didn't think about if any events were going on. I got lucky, and went about one week after CoasterMania or whatever it was. I know I wouldn't have had as good of a time if there would have been a few thousand enthusiasts there babbling about other coasters while I was trying to enjoy the moment. I'm only an enthusiast online. At the park, I'm GP.

I agree with you on this one Travis... I'd much rather be seen as a GP while at the park, than some hardcore enthusiast that sits there acting like a know-it-all. That's one thing that I don't like. Though I did like going to Coastermania (mostly for the 21 straight hours in the park), I don't like being around so-called coaster snobs. For some reason so many enthusiasts act like they're better than everyone else, and that they own the park. That just pisses me off. Anyway, back to the topic, whatever it is...

Dave,They used to allow non-ace members to attend the events but now they only allow Non-Ace members to attend the event if they are with an ACE Member. This rule started because of people’s bad behavior in parks. It also says that if the guest (Non Ace Member) does not follow rules, you (The Ace member) will be responsible for his or hers actions. Which basically means you will be kicked out of ACE and/or the park if your guest does not follow rules.Carlo

While I have no doubts about SFGA being able to host a CoasterCon, I officially have to throw my head back and laugh at the idea of Big Chief's being a co-host. At the risk of being blunt besides from the first-class CCI coasters there, the place is a DUMP!

As Dave mentioned, the best scenario would be a SFGAm/IB event. They are the closest as far as parks go with a variety of things to do.Although if you want to keep the travelling within spitting distance, a SFGAm/Santa's Village/Kiddieland event would be cool also. You cover all 3 outdoor amusement parks in the Chicago area.Save Safari Land for the offseason.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
