If you have a medium sized car that holds 15 gallons and gets 25 mpg and is getting gasoline for 4 bucks, you would have to pay 60 bucks for a fillup, but you can only go 375 miles. (estimated)
If you have a medium sized diesel car that holds 15 gallons and get 50 mpg and your paying 5 bucks a gallon, you would be paying 75 bucks for fillup but would be going 750 miles in between fillups!!!
So think about it, is it worth it to pay 15 bucks extra to get 375 miles extra in between fillups?
YES!!! And the distance between my house and my school is only like 1 1/2 miles...
Can you link me somewhere that shows proof that these Volkswagon diesel vehicles can go 750 miles on one tank of gas? If that is the case, I take back what I said.
I dont have proof, but In general, you get more bang for your buck...
well gas will not be a problem as we are trying to go one more time before school lets out and the park is over run with...* shudder* teenagers. so we are trying for this week or early next week. then it is just a few trips over summer then fright fest.
As long as I live under my parents' roof, I have to obey them. I'll probably convince them somehow. I really don't understand why they are so uptight about it. We've been together for over 3 years, I've stayed in hotels with him and his family before... and yeah, my boyfriend is 22. I believe that I am responsible enough to make this decision and go out on my own with him. I don't see why they can't see that... they always tell me I'm good and responsible and they're proud of me.
Whatever, parents will be parents. I'll talk to them more about it when the time comes.
They did let me use his car to get my license yesterday. The car that I crashed in February. No really, I had my permit at the time, and he was with me. It was a minor accident, I backed up into somebody in a gas station (idiot could have backed out of there instead of trying to go around me which was impossible since there is NO space in that station), and I think the damage on his car was worse than the other guy's car. Now I'm being added to their insurance policy. It's actually really his dad's car, but Jay drives it mostly.
WOW, I have not written on here in a while! They are affecting our SFGAM trips. We will only be going 1-2 times. Now that school is out, and all of the students will be there over the summer (there were at least 8 that came to my Jewel today to buy tix.), plus the increasing gas prices, there just isn't any huge reason for us to go right now.
In terms of longer distance, it is not going to affect us as much. We still have a roadtrip planned for IB over Labor Day. MN is still in the plans for August in order to hit up Nickelodian Universe, and Valleyfair.
Hope to see a couple of you around at the park when I finally do get there this season!

Gas Prices have Severely affected my visit to Six Flags. I have gotten a Season Pass for the past 5 years, and this year i did not. I do not even plan on visiting the park this year. I cannot afford to pay for gas, $15+ for parking, Gate or Season Pass Admission and then the HIGH prices in the park. Six Flags is getting way to expensive and i have cut it out of my life.....until prices or gas drop
Just put a gas station in the parking lot and sell it cheaper. Before, you leave the park fill up on gas and then head back home! Now that a great idea!

Well the gas prices (and work did part of it as well) kept me away from other parks this year. Even trips to Great America suffered this year, didn't go more than once in August and didn't go at all in September.
Anyone else get hit hard by gas prices this past summer?
I ended up only going twice this year so far, though really wasnt gas price keeping me away, was more general lack of desire to go there, and the fact that every inch of road between myself (both at work and at home) is under construction.

SFGAm has a gas station and its free.
Exclusively for go karts/Raceway cars/maintenence vehicles/unnoficially fulltime managements cars though .
Well since the prise of gas has fell drastically it wont effect any of my future trips. I can fill up my GEO for about $35 and it will last me going down to the Chicago area and back and still have enough for a few days after. (its about 2 hours down, and the same back).
Not far from where I live, the cheapest gas is $2.89. Given the fact that the vehicle I use can burn ethanol, it can be fairly low price for me to go to the park. However, the one thing that really kills me is tolls...
