They said they removed it to make the ride experience a little more "enjoyable."

Not only that.

But that would have been A LOT of stress on the riders.
Apparantley it was pulling around 5 g's.

I saw the finished track last october with the twist in there. It looked like a pretty intense inversion, and fit in very well.

I finally rode it last weekend, and it seemed the new layout was pretty lame to what it could have, and should have, been.

I can understand not wanting to put 5g's on the riders after seeing Mission Space wreck havoc on the guests...but not replacing it with some sort of inversion cut the ride potential short.

Its still alright though.

I think Maverick is the best ride at CP. They didn't focus on breaking records and just focused on making a great ride.

I am personally sick of record breaking one trick ponnys. Designers need to get back to designing good all around rides!

I think going back to wooden is a great step to getting back to great ride layouts and using new and interesting combinations of elements rather than loop, corkscrew, loop.

I totally agree. Woodies are my favorite kind of coaster. Since they can't have inversions and such, they are just all around great rides.

So, since the season is over, and many of us rode this ride, what where your guy's thoughts on Maverick?

It's name describes it perfectly...

mav·er·ick (māv'ər-ĭk, māv'rĭk) Pronunciation Key
n.
An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.
One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter

It's such a unique coaster everywhere you look.
The lift, what comes after the drop, the launch, the train size.
Everything.

I loved it.

Was going to ride Maverick last summer, but thanks to the reliable Lake Erie weather, it was raining the day I went. Oh well, maybe sometime in the future.

I did hear the back seat was pretty painful. Can anyone confirm this?

It's not painful at all.

Just don't ride front at night.
That's just plain awful

^ The ride isn't 'painful' as long as you have your style of riding down... For me, I have to hold my hands onto the upper part of the harness only on the over banked turns.

Other then that.. Smooth as a glass

The only pain you could get on that ride is from holding your arms up.
Brusied the inside of my arms from those damned Intamin restraints.

^The first time I sat down I didn't know how the heck they worked, neither did my friend...

I'm from the school of Coasters With A Little Pain Add To the Fun. That's why Magnum is so great. Of course, too much pain can ruin the experience.

Anyway, I'm hoping to go to the point opening day next season. Maybe I'll get a chance to ride this.... beast.

^You're right, there can be too much pain. Mean Streak is a perfect example.

Haven't ridden it, nor was I all that excited to ride it (since it looked like quite the headbanger). I'll admit, after seeing POVs and whatnot, it does look cool, we'll have to see if time will allow me to ride this thing!
