I saw the finished track last october with the twist in there. It looked like a pretty intense inversion, and fit in very well.
I finally rode it last weekend, and it seemed the new layout was pretty lame to what it could have, and should have, been.
I can understand not wanting to put 5g's on the riders after seeing Mission Space wreck havoc on the guests...but not replacing it with some sort of inversion cut the ride potential short.
I think going back to wooden is a great step to getting back to great ride layouts and using new and interesting combinations of elements rather than loop, corkscrew, loop.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.

It's such a unique coaster everywhere you look.
The lift, what comes after the drop, the launch, the train size.
Everything.
Was going to ride Maverick last summer, but thanks to the reliable Lake Erie weather, it was raining the day I went. Oh well, maybe sometime in the future.
I did hear the back seat was pretty painful. Can anyone confirm this?
^ The ride isn't 'painful' as long as you have your style of riding down... For me, I have to hold my hands onto the upper part of the harness only on the over banked turns.
^The first time I sat down I didn't know how the heck they worked, neither did my friend...

Haven't ridden it, nor was I all that excited to ride it (since it looked like quite the headbanger). I'll admit, after seeing POVs and whatnot, it does look cool, we'll have to see if time will allow me to ride this thing!
