Chances are this topic has been done before, but if you bought any amusement park in the world, what things would you do to make a park better for its guests?
For Magic Mountain, I Would do the Following:
- Make the Season passholders get free admission to Fright Fest
- I would replace Flashback with a Sally Interactive Dark ride to reduce the coaster count and since Flashback can't operate because of the noise distracting lifeguards, the Dark Ride wouldn't be a problem
- Scrap Freefall
- Scrap Psyclone and replace it with either a Huss Giant Frisbee or S&S 40 Passenger Screaming Swings
- Remove Deja Vu and replace it with an Intamin 325ft Gyro Drop
- Remove Viper (Will be Relocated) and replace it with a Balder clone
- I would add a Zip Coaster like Deluge to Hurricane Harbor
- I would put new trains on X
- I would add about 3-4 more sit down buffet restaurants
- I would add PTC trains to Collossus
- I would replace the LSM's on Superman with LIM to reduce electricity costs
- I would add a Solar panel/ Wind belt to help California with electricity
- I would have an Off Season from December to March to clean up the park
- I would add a few flat rides to Baja Ridge as that area only has coasters.
- I would add Lapbar Trains to Revolution (Pennsylvania and Kentucky can, so why can't California?)
- I would completely redesign the employee training and give them benefits so they will do their best
- I would lower admission from 59 to 52 because they don't offer the Value that Disneyland does
- I would lower parking from 15 to 9 dollars so the guests realize the park is a great value
- I would replace all the old, maintenance-nightmare flat rides with updated, newer flat rides
- I would bulldoze Bugs Bunny Land and add a few family flat rides
- I would sell Deja Vu to anyone who wants it
- I would spend about 50 million dollars on just park improvements in one year (I remember Shapiro saying that 20 million could have fixed the park, so imagine what 51 million would do)
- I would pull a Great Adventure and retheme several sections of the park so the guests are drawn in with a new and cleaned up land
- I would lower food and drink prices and increase a season-pass cost so the guests stay in the park longer, spend more, and return more often
- I would add a new kids area where Deja Vu is
- I would reopen Sky Sling if it isn't already and scrap Dive Devil
- I would have parking automatically included in Season passes
- I would triple the budget the park spends on Shows
- I would repave the whole park so it has Concrete walkways (More expensive but lasts longer)
- I would add a new indoor theater with Something similar to "Love at First Fright" (I love those kind of shows)
- I would offer queue line entertainment (Magic Tricks, DJ, Karaoke)
- I would spend about 9 million to expand Roaring Rapids
- With Perilous Plunge at KBF, I would replace Tidal Wave with a Splash Battle Ride like at Indiana Beach, Dollywood, and Legoland
- I would scrap Metro and replace it with a Chance Train Ride
- I would add landscaping under Scream, Goliath, and Colossus
- If there is room, I would add a hotel with 400 rooms and a 100,000sqft Indoor Waterpark
- With the Looney Tunes Out, I would have the new kids area themed to Nickelodeon
- I would replace Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls with a Huss Giant Top Spin
- I would have a concert series with tween/teen guests (Hannah Montana, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson)
- I would have a New Years Event where the rides close at 9, but the park is open From 7-12 (I Feel bad when I See a Great America employee operating a ride at 12 and thinking they must be tired)
- I would replace the Petting Zoo with A Zamperla DiskO Coaster
- I would add 2 Tunnels to Colossus to "Juice it up"
- I would replace Sky Tower with an Intamin Super Gyro Tower like Sky Trek Tower (Larger Capacity, Lighter Cabin)
- I would rename Cyclone Bay to "The Golden State Boardwalk"
- I would make Hurricane Harbor free and rename it "Castaway Kingdom"
- I would pay someone to be Undercover to give me reports on the park quality and status
- I would pay someone in a newspaper to write good things about the park, only if it was true.
- I would have a Music Day in the park in February when the back half of the rides are closed but there are concerts and events and admission reduced.
- I would pay Herschend or Dollywood to learn how they train their employees and keep the park clean.
- I would offer a $10-15 season-pass discount to California Residents
- I would give 3 homeless shelters free admission for 3 days during the off season to raise their spirits
- I would give 15% of profits to Charities and the Army
I know that's alot but that's what I would spend from 2006-2023 or longer. By the Way, I don't think any of this is that un-realistic.
-MAJOR losses would occur if there was free admission to Fright Fest.
-The price is set with competition in the area.
-I'd love to see anyone have the funding for all those options...............
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
Keep in mind, most of those suggestions would be instated over the next 20+ years and alot of them are just general improvements that can be done in 5-6 years.
Also remember, this is what I would do if I purchased the park from Six Flags and added my own ideas. In addition to, most of my suggestions were made to have the park be different from its competition. For Example, Lower admission would make people realize the park is larger than Disneyland yet, more affordable.
Notice that Only one suggestion was to add a new coaster (The Balder Clone) to keep the wooden and steel coaster quality even (Compare Psyclone or Colossus to Goliath or Tatsu.) I just don't like it when parks look like they're trying to "take everything, make you leave with nothing" policy.
Did you know that according to a book I read, Walt Disney's plan for Disneyland was supposed to let guests leave with some money (This was before Eisner) and care about the guests. Probably the most expensive ride was an Intamin Gyro Drop as that might cost 18+ million.
I just tried to be realistic and lower maintenance and operation costs.
How about this suggestion list for Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom
- Proslide 3 Speed Slide Complex
- Proslide 4 Body Slide Complex
- Proslide 3 Tube Slide Complex
- Proslide 6 Lane Racing Slide Complex
- Proslide Behemoth Bowl
- Proslide Zip Coaster with LIM’s
- Proslide Raft Ride
- Kids Play Area
- Lagoon Pool
- Activity Pool with a Lily Pad Walk
- Lower Admission from 23.95 to 19.95
- Lower Food and Drink Prices
This should all be added over an 8-10 year period.
Here's a Question. Why in all of my forums that I start, most people ignore the topic (This One, Mt. Olympus, Decades, New Disney's California Adventure, Last Minute or Cancelled, just to name a few. I know I do it to, but it's been happening alot in mostly my Forums. Maybe I'm just paranoid.)
PLEASE PEOPLE, POST ON IF YOU OWNED A PARK, WHAT YOU WOULD DO!!!!!
I don't think Wildwater Kingdom will be around in five years.
You can already tell that Cedar Fair dosen't want to put money into this park in the first place, I highly doubt it's going to stay with them for much longer.
Theres not much that I'd want to see at, or do to any parks right now.
I think quite the opposite for Wildwater Kingdom, I think it's going to see huge sums of $$ in preparation of Cedar Fair closing down Soak City at CP for expansion space. If you think about it Soak City hasnt seen new capital in years and at least last time I was there it all appeared to be run down and/or outdated.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
Thank god your here, i mean to fix all of SF's problems
First off, you have bankrupt Six Flags with some of these outlandish and otherwise horrible ideas.
Secondly, Theres no way in hell Six Flags would go to a competitor to "train its employees, and clean the park up."
Third, how is lowering prices going to make the park competitive?
Lastly, as I have said to those who have came before you, Amusement Parks are businesses, businesses are in business to make money. NOT to cater to every whim of a small subsect of the population that goes to theme parks (That'd be us) Until people start to understand that adding tens or millions of dollars worth of rides IS NOT the answer, I will continue to harp on this fact.

I don't know if I'm out of the loop or something, but Soak City is getting removed?
I'm willing to bet that If any of you guys read that entire post, you would actually agree with my ideas (Drop Tower, Removing several coasters, removing Psyclone, Update on Maintenance, Adding Family Rides, New Trains on X, Sally Interactive Dark Ride, New Better Smoother Wooden Coaster to compete with Ghostrider, Nicer Employees, new kids area, etc.)
REMEMBER THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO IF I PURCHASED THE PARK, NOT THINGS SIX FLAGS SHOULD DO, BUT WHAT I WOULD DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's a Contest to everyone:
Name 15 things that you wouldn't do in that Magic Mountain post that I would do or things that don't make since or are unpractical and I will unveil my first name. I'm waiting.
I read the whole thing...it's all very impractical. And I don't care what your first name is...and I think Magic Mountain is a bit too far into the gutter to spend that much money on anyway.
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time! Just giving them their money's worth!

The answer to your question lies above...when you post in all caps, begging people to participate in any one of your nine daily flights of fantasy, you come off like a mouth-breathing enthusiast who thinks of nothing but Sally dark rides and torque specs on Zamperla flying coasters.
Settle down. Breathe. I know the off-season is boring, but it won't last forever.
