Finally, after years and years of waiting for something, The Great State of Arizona is getting a major new amusement park. The new park will be called Decades and be built in Eloy, Arizona. The park will supposedly cost about 800 million which is twice the amount of the Hard Rock Park cost. Here's the full story link.
I think this is a great thing and proof that amusement parks are still alive in the World. Think about it:
Nashville : Rumored of 2 new amusement parks (Ole South and Bible Land)
Arizona : New 800 Million Amusement Park (Decades)
Houston : New 500 million amusement park (Earth Quest Adventure)
Myrtle Beach : New 400 Million Amusement park (Hard Rock Park)
South Korea : Like 3 new amusement parks rumored (Disney, Universal, Paramount)
Dubai : At Least 3 Amusement parks rumored (Formula 1, Universal Studios, Warner Bros.)
I'm just saying that more parks have closed since 2000 then have opened in the US. I blame the Economy.
This new boom is just a reminder that amusement parks are still surviving in a country with a rediculiosly low dollar value (Canada beat us, no offense Canadian's, you're a great country), a money hungary population with people suing everyone, a war that I don't know why we're in, and frightningly high gas prices (3.15 a Gallon in the first week of November, are you kidding me)
I'm just saying that with the world crazy now, new theme parks being built are a breath of fresh air. That's all.
You know, this happens to me every once in awhile- I was just telling my son a couple months ago how I think a theme park with a decades theme would be cool, and now this news comes out! Do ever get the feeling that someone is reading your mind? Of course I would incorporate music into the theming of each area, but also pop culture and world events too. A 50's area with drive in, burgers and fries, early rock and roll, cars, etc. A 60's area with rides and attractions themed to psychedelic stuff and the moon landing, A 70's area with a disco-themed entertainment/dance place, space/Star Wars, bicentennial, etc. An 80's area with a big classic arcade, etc.
