Today is a sad day for those who liked Geauga Lake. The ride side at Geauga Lake is closing. The water park side, Wildwater Kingdom, is going to remain open.
I know many people didn't like the park back when it was Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, but during my multiple trips, I always had a great time. I enjoyed the combo park and wish it had succeeded. Sadly, it didn't, and after Cedar Fair took over, they failed as well.
I can only hope that Cedar Fair finds a home for Big Dipper instead of trashing it. I'm sure the steel coasters will be re-located, and imho, the other two woodies can be trashed, but Big Dipper deserves to live on.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Even if it's a park you don't know really well it's still hard. I just had a thought. Do you think it is possible that we might get a coaster from there or would they give some to other Cedar Fair parks? Well, I guess it's most likely we won't but still is a thought.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)
Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades
Geauga Lake was aweome. It had tons of great coasters, and whenever I went there, I never waited over 15 minutes...but if people don't come, there's nothing more that can be done.
they are Cedar Fairs rides and will remain within Cedar Fair parks unless they are put on the market.
Dominator will go to either PCw or PKD, the SLC is heading to MiAdv, no word on the rest of the rides. Both woodies will probably be scrapped and flats dispursed throughout the chain and run poorly in Cedar Fair tradition. As for the other coasters they will probably find a home at other CF parks.

I think most of us saw this coming. I just hope the Big Dipper, Bobs, and Double Loop can be saved. I'm sure the other woodie will be demolished and the steels will be relocated.
Didn't I predict this last year when they took out X-Flight and Steel Venom?
^It was farely obvious with the loss of those two rides that something was off, but now everything is official. I've never had the chance to visit this park, but i know people who have and i've heard decent things. it's nice that in this case, at least the waterpark will still be around, X-Flight isn't too far for locals to still enjoy, and Cedar Point is only an hour away...ie. the coasters still live on in the region!
Wasn't Steel Venum moved to Dorney Park for next year?!
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
The only thing about this episode, is the fact that Cedar Fair had no courtesy in letting the public know about what's going on with the park. They didn't let anyone know about the rides being closed, and what not.
^Exactly, it was an EXTREMELY disrespectful move to the park's patron and I agree with what Lance said over at Screamscape, the fanbase might not go to the waterpark just because of the way this was handled...
Oh, and Chi-Town, thanks for the info!

If that were my main park, I wouldn't return to go to a crappy waterpark. Nor would I even support Cedar Fair the company, but being that CF now own the state of Ohio, it'd be hard cause the other two options of King's Island and CP. Eh, whatever, let's go to Orlando.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
