Great news for SFMM, a new General manager for the park.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

And a great pick for the GM spot. Jay Thomas will be the new head guy at SFMM. Del Holland is retiring (thank god).

As Galvan316 and Coasterdave316 can back it up since the 3 of us met him when he was GM of SFKK, he is a very approachable, down to earth guy who seems to care about the business and SF in general.

This park needs a guy like him.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I remember BTR would go down for 2 weeks every year for rehab because it was Del Hollands favorite ride.

/\ Really doesnt contribute to the convo in any way, just thought id throw that in there :)

That's great. Maybe he can whip the place into shape.... although, SFKK was probably the worst Six Flags I've been too. But there could've been many factors that formed my opinion. Let's hope he does what's best.

^The only problem with it, is that it doesn't have any rides that most would agree worth riding (other than Chang). So, with a park like SFMM that already has many rides with GREAT potential when maintained regularly, this new guy sounds like he'll do even better than he did at SFKK!!!!

Wait a second.....

Thunder Run is an awesome ride. T2 sucks (even though I really enjoy it) Twisted Twins is a decent ride as well. Then theres Chang,

in my opinion, SFKK is the victim of being neglected by the old SF management, and not the current one.

Large parks are MUCH more challenging to manage than small parks (ask Mark Kane), it kindve concerns me how a president from a park like SFKK, which isnt exactly known for its stellar appearance or operations, is going to do any better with SFMM.

Thats the conservative pessamist part of me, for all I know this could be a good thing for MM, if the new president doesnt commit suicide :)

Isn't GAm one of the more popular Six Flags parks? I would think it is with its prime location.

While I hope this guy does a good job, the fact that he comes from SFKK is a MAJOR NEGATIVE!!!!!!!!

Of all the parks that I have been too, that park is easily the worst!!!!!
The operations of the park/rides were awful!!! The employee's were lazy/rude with no concern at all about the guests, and going there after having visited Dollywood/HW made you appreciate parks that care about there guests and those that dont!!
I have been to the park 3 times and none of them was a good expereince, and the last time I went one of the good things about the park-Thunder Run-ran awful with ride ops that were even worse than Mt Olmpyus, because at least at Mt Olympus the ride ops werent talking on cell phones and making you wait to load/unload the train while they finished there conversation. The only postive was I didnt pay to get in with our season pass's and the last 2 times we spent very little money inside the park

^ Ah, yes the typical Bob O, comment for everything. And wouldn't you know it, Not a positive comment for anything.

Bob, let me ask you a serious question?

Are you happy in life? seriously? You are the most negative person I have ever met.

Jay Thomas, is anything but a MAJOR NEGATIVE, judging by that comment, you've never met, talked to or even seen the man. If you had, you'd have know that He is a termendous asset to MM, and Will do an excellent job there, I wish him the best.

I'm not saying that SFKK was a terrible park. Satan's Village was far worse than anything SFKK is. I haven't been to a whole lot of Six Flags parks. Just Magic Mountain, Great America, Over Texas, and Kentucky Kingdom.

All of the rides there had their share of roughness (Thunder Run was rough in the back but still fun), the park has a confusing layout, but I still had a good time. If what I hear about this guy is true, than he really can't do much worse than the old MM GM.

I have always said at SFKK the fulltime team tries so hard, but seasonal management is just terrible and ruins the park.

Im a very happy guy and and EXTREMELY happy with my life!!!!! And not negative in the least.

I didnt say THOMAS is a major negative because I havent met him, but just about everything about SFKK is a negative and how poorly run the park is it doesnt give one alot of cause for hope, now if the manager from SFGAM was going there it would be a postive because of the SF parks I have visited I believe ours is the best run/managed park in the chain. I hope he does good, but from my visits at SFKK if he runs SFMM with the same awful level of employee's with the same lousy service than I cant see it helping much.
As for postive comments if they are warranted Im happy to give them and I will give a big kudo's to the general employee's of SFGAM who do a excellant job under trying conditions, sadly the same cant be said for the managemen of the SF company. And having had the privilege of going to parks all over the US I can see what parks IMHO do right and wrong and how it affects the guests experience.

And while some of the people on this site seem to worship SF and think almost anything they do is excellant and awesome, I offer a different viewpoint from my expereince of going to theme parks for over 2 decades.

If some people would visit more parks and see how they operate, how the guests are treated and the rides/park maintained they would easily see the difference between well run/beustiful parks and ones that arent.

I sure hope that last quote wasnt directed towards me, because you have no clue what your talking about, and the number of parks and coasters I have been on.

You constantly, and im not a Johnny Come Lately to this site, constantly bash every single thing about SF. Shapiro cant lift a finger without some negitive comment from you.

Which ultimately begs the question.... If you hate SF so much and you cant stand going to the parks so much. WHY THE HELL DO YOU STILL GO TO THEM?!?!

Not to take sides, but i agree with what you have said. Some people ARE too quick to say that everything is great and some are also too quick to accuse people of being negative because they DON'T always like everything that's being done with the company. An opinion is an opinion no matter what it is and each opinion that contradicts the norm is an opinion that sparks conversation, which keeps these forums alive and keeps people coming back.....

Isn't he the GM (or Park President) that registered on an enthusiast website and asked what would he could improve on in the park? or was I completely imagining things?
