Interesting to see Raging Bull kreeping up closer and closer to the top 10 with #12

Galvin, it's not really the CP praise awards this year. They only have two #1 ranking (top park and best new ride). Holiday World, on the other hand, won 4 awards. So, I think it's more of a HW praise awards than CP praise awards.
The main HW award that I disagree with, have for years now, is the friendliest park award. It's strange how that park continues to win that award when I've found staff at Beech Bend, and even at times, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, to be a lot more friendly than HW's staff is *currently*. They used to be the most friendly in the past, but after the "incident,* I think that has gone downhill and hasn't gone back up. But, people vote on reputations and not what they actually experience from year to year, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
In regards to Viper...37th isn't that bad. I haven't looked at the entire list (am not d/l the entire pdf), but of the coasters in the top 10, I would rank Viper above a couple of them, I think. But...I would rank some coasters below 37 perhaps above Viper, so..37 isn't that bad, I don't think. That is...as long as Villian is behind it.
I doubt I would rank RB any closer to the top ten than #12, personally speaking. It's probably my least favorite B&M hyper in the US (I have been on all of them). It's still fun, usually, but imho is not a top ten steel coaster.
I don't get how Disneyland is lower than Cedar Point.... or than Holiday World for that matter. Those are great parks but, they don't compare to Disneyland.
Great to see Voyage at #1! .... but Mean Streak at 39? Yikes. That shouldn't even be on the list, haha.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.
Well, i'm extremely happy that Apollo's Chariot got four since i rode that this year and put it as number four on my list now too!!!!
As for the friendliest park, i think nothing beats Universal! The original park's employees are always really good with playing their part (everything down to the costumes) and calling their phoneline is something i do whenever i have a bad day. They are just fun to talk to! Definitely the friendliest in my eyes, Holiday World's friendliness didn't catch my eye...
Overall, i don't think the main awards changed much, other than Raging Bull, so decent again, just like last year.
Oh, and i'm pleased to see my number 1 coaster (Revenge of the Mummy) in the top 50, but why so low?!
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
^The golden Ticket Awards are given by votes. If statistics were given, the lists would be very different. For example, Typhoon Lagoon got a 4% vote on top water parks, but it is officially ranked the #1 most visited water park in the world for 2007, currently. (Approx 1,600,000 guests from May-August alone)
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
IMHO I think this poll has a major bias against the big parks like The Disney/Universal parks and favors there regional competitors.
While Cear Point is a nice park IMHO I think it is over-rated as is HW.
Any of the major Disney parks/MK/DL/Epcot could/should win any of the park awards, also BGW but the bias shows in the voting.
It is nice to see a coaster in Wisc likke Hades get its accolades, if only the park owner would learn how to run the park with some standards and add a train to the ride.
Its also nice to see RB get the acclaim it deserves but it is sad that Viper gets overlooked
