Now that you have mentioned that T_Biggs:What happened to the water under River Rocker? That hasn't been filled up in a long time. Everytime I ride it, there is never any water in it. I always thought people threw too much stuff in there. Then again, they should check out the water area near RR. You can always find money, credit cards, ID's, and once I even saw a checkbook. Kinda makes you wonder why people would want to do that, unless there cards are expired and they have no other place to put them.....
I think themeing is adds to the ride a lot. I think V2s back tower wouldnt be as thrilling if the water wasnt there. Whizzer wouldnt be as fun if all the trees werent there. SW would have been better if they at least covered up the parking lot. I think S:UF is more fun with all of the grass and trees than it was when it was just dirt. Anyway RR used to have water. I dont think its as fun without the water. The past couple of years I think it hasnt had water.
Well, I don't consider water, trees, and grass themeing elements (in most cases). Unless of course the ride is called Grass: The Ride or something ... But, I do agree with you, that those rides definately would not be as much fun if there weren't water, trees, and grass.
theming is the most overrated aspect to an amusement park....what really matters is if there are quality rides. SFGAm certainly doesn't have alot of theming, but the rides are incredible, and thats what makes it a top notch park
I just got back from a coaster trip and can say, theming doesn't matter. I'm sure of it. Medusa is a sweet floorless, although it is over grass. People tell me that's why B:KF is so good, because it's over a lake. Well, it doesn't phase me. Theming is over rated, just as location...

as long as you have rides that are quality....thats all that matters. i could go without theming and have the park put all that money into getting amazing rides.
With these new rumors of Disney buying Six Flags, I think the question is: If you took all the amazing theming from either Disney World or Universal Studios, and placed it ALL in SFGAm (with the rides matching the new themes, of course), you don't think that you would have a more enjoyable day? A coaster is just a hunk of machinery (albeit a fun one)... it needs great surroundings to make it an AMUSEMENT park ride!
On my trip to CP I didn't notice much theming except for the frontier area. Unless you consider the Midway a theme, there is hardly anything. And then there's Disaster Transport. It's really the only themed ride there.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name
Cedar Point's atmosphere is good, but it's no where near the best that I've experienced. And theme? There was no theme beyond the Frontier town, which you walk though just to get elsewhere, and Disaster Transport (which is done quite well, in my opinion,) and, well, Dragster has a theme, but it's half gone now.The only park I've been to with a non-generic that isn't a fume-filled atmosphere is Busch Gardens Tampa. Seriously, you can forget you're in Florida while there, except for at the top of Montu's lift (you see Busch Ave, and all of America's traffic in all of its glory ) Albeit, it is strange to travel to Egypt, and within a minute see the Sahara, and then be in Egypt again, and then only minutes later you are walking through a British colony.
If you like CP's landscaping... then you should head on over to SFWoA. The landscaping on the Wildlife section is very underrated and actually quite beautiful.
Im going back to Ohio during October. Im going to CP for Halloweekends and SFWoA for Fright Fest. Ill check out the wildlife section when I go to SFWoA.
