FYI, a brand new alpine slide opened in Valparaiso, IN a couple of weeks ago. This slide is located at the Pines resort (http://www.pinesskiarea.com/ for info/map - information about the slide is not on their website yet). It's about 1200 ft. long. There is one track, though they are planning on building another one right next to it. For those of you who have never been on one, I am sure you will find this quite fun. I think this is the closest one to Chicago now. It's reasonably priced as it's $3 for 1 ride and $12 for 5 rides (most alpine slides I think are a bit more expensive). This place now features snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, and paintball (new this year as well). They hopefully will be adding a zipline in the future as well.
I don't mean this to sound as an ad for them or anything, but I thought those of you who travel from Chicago to CP/GL etc. and travel via I-80/I-90 might want to check this out as it's not too far out of your way and I know that most coaster fans enjoy alpine slides. If any of you try it out, post back here how you enjoyed your rides. Have fun, and be careful on those turns.
^Yeah, no kidding. I've only been there once, but it was a blast and i can't wait to ride one again. The best one though, is the one in Tennessee near Dollywood! The only time i don't like them is when i accidently hit the track, that can take a lot of skin of really quickly!

A few months ago, we were there, and my friend was wearing short sleeves, and ended up ripping off a whole bunch of skin on her arm. Then I got stung by a bee. That was a bad time there.
