Six Flags Puts Elitch Gardens up for Sale

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby [jonrev] on August 7th, 2006, 3:24 pm
Six Flags Inc. will start marketing its Denver property for sale this week. The city wants the site to continue as an amusement park, but some see it as a mixed-use development. The owner of Denver's Six Flags Elitch Gardens amusement park is seeking $170 million for the 75-acre site, according to a real estate developer who has seen the offering.

On top of that, SFEG has laid off all of its costumed characters due to budget cuts.

^

You're pretty brave if you buy an amusement park.

Next thing you know, this park will turn into Trump World.

No, they said they weren't closing the parks, they will have a full season of operation. They did say that they were still optioning to sell the park.

Is this sarcasm? It has to be. Good one. :? Expedition Everest costs that much money. Why would it only cost that much money to buy the whole park?

Ya see, the problem with this type of thing is that who will really want to buy it. It has not been making money, well, ever. If six flags can not handle it, then why would anyone else think they could do much better. The problem is not enough people going to the park, and as hard as anyone tries, it probably will not improve enough to make it worth while.

The city refused to let the park close though, right? Or atleast from what I remember reading years ago about it was something like that (I have been outta the loop on coaster related stuff for to long)
