Well, surprisingly it looks like I'm going to Geauga Lake and Cedar Point this year! Sometime next week. I'm really excited. I can't bring any friends with though, so I guess I'll be alone with my dad who doesn't ride rides.
This is not my first time to either park though. Last time I went to both was in 2004. I want to ask for anyone who's been on them, how are MaxAir and Skyhawk? Any tips would be good.
Oh yeah, I want to ask something else. When I went, I never felt like waiting for front row on MF or TTD, and this time I'm going to ride front on both. About how much longer does it take to wait for front, and is it worth it?
Front row for TTD can be a long wait. I rode front row once, and it took, I would say, an extra 30 minutes, and that was with no switchbacks open, and the line out to the entrance. in my opinion, TTD front row cannot be beat.
As for MF, I have never ridden in the front.
Are you and your dad staying on Cedar Point property?
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
Max Air is like 5 times better Revolution. It goes much higher up, and the seats are on the outside instead of the inside.
I have heard that Skyhawk gets good, and it stops right when it gets good. So, it must be good, but not great.
As for GL, Steel Venom (V2) is down. You know that those LIMs probably take a month to get.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
I thought that both of them weren't all that good. MaxAir is better than SkyHawk for sure, which SkyHawk seemed really lame to me.
On your question about front row, they control the front row line, if it is too long, they will not let you line up in it. Therefore, this results in shorter front row lines, but you have to be lucky to get it. Also, on MF they assign you a row unless you request one, if you don't get front row, go row 9, which is 5:1. For TTD, they dont control the front row, which can make it longer, but still, it is usually a 10 cycle wait, but that is 10 cycles you hope it doesnt break down or roll back.

^ What days of the week are you going? I just found out that my Dad wants to take one last family vacation before school starts, ao we're going this Wednesday and Thursday (I'm 95% sure!).
"And that farm girl walked off with slippers off a dead woman? She must have been raised in a barn!" ~Wicked, an excellent musical
We tried talking about it but we're not sure. We're aiming for sometime this week, or Thursday and Friday of next week. If we go those two days, I'm gonna be coming back on Saturday night with more packing to do because on Sunday the 20th I leave right away for Arkansas. Crazy...
Front on TTD- It's not that much longer. Use your best judgement on the least crowded side of the station. It can usually save you a few cycles.
Front on MF- It takes a little longer but its worth it.
If you can't get Front, I'd say go with Dan's best bet of 5:1 or Back row.
Both are really good.
maXair is pretty tame, it's a great flat though.
Skyhawk, is actually really lame. Short cycle, only go for it if it's a cycle or two wait.
Skyhawk=Maxair w/o as much spinning (from what I've heard), I haven't rode either.
As for GL, be sure to ride Villian and Dominator. Some say Villain may be rough, but that's like all wood coasters. Dominator is pretty damn awesome if you ask me.
Like I said I've been to both parks. Dominator is one of my favorite coasters, it's amazing. I hope to get many more rides on it than I did the one day I went (16 times). Villain is one of my favorite woodies, but it is definitely on the rough side.

Villain is EXTREMELY ROUGH. No wooden coaster except maybe Mean Streak is that bad.
And yes, Dominator is great. My #1 floorless out of 4.
Mean Streak is boring, not rough. There's a difference.
Son of Beast, must i say it again, is the roughest Wooden Coaster in history. Mean Streak is smooth compared to that. Any TOGO is smooth compared to that.

From Coasterbuzz:
Part of the Son of Beast roller coaster at Paramount’s Kings Island must be taken apart and rebuilt under state supervision, a time-consuming process that raises questions about whether the ride will reopen this season. “If they want to operate it again, that’s what they have to do,” said Melanie Wilt, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the state agency that regulates amusement park rides. The Son of Beast has been closed since July 9 when 27 people were injured after a particularly rough ride.
Personally, I thought the Togo, Manhatten Express was better and smoother than Mean Streak, I absolutely disliked that ride, it was horrible, especially that first drop.
