Over the Shoulder Restraints

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Gangsta Fruit 26 on January 24th, 2006, 6:58 pm
I think that that all new inverted coasters that B&M make, should have over the shoulder restraints be just like the ones on SUF. I know that SUF is a flying coaster but they could still put those restraints(besides the feet things) on all of there new inverted coasters. I would like that because those type of restratints can't give headbanging. They are so comfortable.

Look at this picture. They could make the restrainst be just like that.

Let me know what you guys think. Do you agree with me.

....Or atleast make all new over the shoulders alike to those of Intamin's new rocket/acellerator coasters...you know, that thin rubber restraint attached to the lap bar restraint...?

Even that would be nicer than a bulky headbanging restraint. However, the flying restraints would be awsome for comfort and they'd still get the job done.

Those would be horrible for inverted coasters.

Those are too big for an inverted coaster. They are for flyers for a reason...

I think that inverted coasters should have restraints as soft as those on S:UF, however, not quite as thick. I think Superman's restraints pack you in snug, but inverts should have a little bit more of a looser feeling. They should also think about giving people a little bit more room on inverted coasters, especially for our arms.

Yeah, on inverted coasters you need to dangle your feet, so locking your legs in wouldn't be the greatest idea.

Wouldnt the black part tighten up on you? It bothers me on s:uf.

I personally think that the OTSR on SUF would not be good on non-flying coasters because of the black harness. The ones on BTR are fine as it is, it gives you the ability to have some movement, and if they put the SUF OTSRs on an inverted, it would be pointless in my opinion.

Yeah, the flying restraints are too bulky to be able to move around at all. I've never had a problem with head banging on Batman, anyways.

I think if they had restraints like S:UF's restraints only without the black rubber one, it would be kind of nice. There would be plenty of room in the chest and shoulder area and you would feel more snug around the waist. I don't know, just a thought.

Using S:UF's restraints would take all the fun out of inverted coasters. No feet dangling and barely any movement...what would be the point of B:TR, one of the most intense inverts out there? I actually like the head-banging (ok not headache inducing head banging), it's apart of the ride with inverts. Oh, and the head banging on B&M inverts come no where nears as bad as some Arrow or Vekoma sit downs.

^Very true, headbanging on B&Ms don't seem to bother me at all. The only reason i could see it being neat to change the restraints is to make the ride more comfy and more spacious. However, I would still get rid of the ankle locks and the black rubber strap.

Let's just say this:

1) The flying restraints are pretty bulky.

2) Those kind of restraints really hurt women... especially when in an inversion.

Althought they are comfortable for your head, I don't think it's a very good idea because of other issues...

I agree with gottastrata33. The intamin launch restraints don't look like you could bang you head on them at all. And for the SUF restraint thing, I said without the feet things. So you could still dangel your feet. I would be happy if they put those on their inverted coasters. They aren't bulky, I think that Batmans restraints are bulky. You can't even look to the left or right with those because they are so big. Well you guys might not like it but I think it would be awesome.

I think by "bulky" everyone just means the black vest part on S:UF is really big.

Those restraints were deisgned for a flying coaster only, so I have to agree with anyone who says there bulky.
