Amusement Park vs. Theme Park

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.

To this day I'm not sure what the two have in common/what makes them different. I would say Six Flags has theme parks but not 100% sure. So, what is the difference? Anyone?

Easy explanation

Amusement park is a park that has rides and coasters with little or no level of themeing

Theme Park is a park that has a good amount of theming. (I.E. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, etc...)

I would say Six Flags is a theme park. We have themed rides like Batman the Ride, Superman, The Dark Knight, and so forth. We also have themed areas. It might not be on the level that Disney is, but I would consider it a theme park.

Kiddieland would be more like an amusement park, but I don't think that makes it a bad park though.
