It takes awhile like maybe 2 weeks or so. Whatever you do, DON'T spit like how people spit out of there mouth. You have to open your mouth, and than just let the liquid go out of your mouth like if you are brushing your teeth because you will start bleeding if you really spit. Than, you wonder if you are ever going to stop bleeding. I just had my done recently. Eat soft stuff. Use an ice pack, and a heating pack as they sell them in the store. The ice pack is for the swelling, and the heating pack is to help get rid of some of the pain, but it takes awhile.

I just had all 4 of mine pulled this morning, really doesn't hurt now though my doctor gave me a prescription for more Vicodin than I can shake a stick at, which I will be taking til it runs out regardless if I feel pain or not, no sense no taking it, then possibly getting bowled over with intense pain, besides, hey! it's Vicodin
But I'm mainly worried about when that runs out. How long til I can eat solid food about? like really solid food, say Steak. I know potato chips and other salty snacks are off the menu for quite some time, but I love my sliced and cooked animal corpses

Well, figured i'd post an update in case anyone else is looking at having their wisdom teeth taken out.
It's actually not that bad, when I got to the dentist he put me under via an IV, needle went in my arm, 10 seconds later I was gone, seemed like 2 mins later I woke up sans 4 teeth. During the procedure they pump you full of novocane so it doesnt hurt when you wake up.
Basically went home and took Vicodin for the rest of the day, I never really felt any pain. Next day I actually stopped taking the drugs and I had very little pain. Taken a few regular Tylenol's since then but for the most part haven't had any issues. I didn't even have my face swell which I guess happens sometimes. And now 3 days later, I got no pain what so ever, I'm eating more solid foods (burgers, hotdogs, roast beef, and stuff like that), I really got no pain, everything feels just fine, I wouldn't even know I had anything done if it wasn't for a stitch I got on one of my sockets where it's wrapped around another tooth and sometimes the loose end ends up on top of the tooth and I can feel it when I bite down.
So yeah, Sat I go back to the dentist to have the stitches out and for a checkup. So if anyone is facing this in the future, it's really not that bad, don't worry to much about it, it's really not a big deal. Really the worst part was just having a restricted diet for a few days while it starts to heal.
Also forgot, it bled alittle for about 2 days. Quite a bit the first day, then the bleeding slows down a lot, and you just spit crimson for another day or so.
