As of today, Chicago has a 10.75% sales tax on purchases. The highest in the nation.
Glad I don't live in that area anymore. Screw the politicians in Illinois, especially Cook County.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Holy hell...
Oh my gosh... and I wanted to go downtown on Saturday...
well a day trip into the city from the burbs it shouldnt affect much, figure it'd cost you $1 extra at most from the 2 or so percent increase in the tax from before, that is unless you were to buy some big ticket items. People living in Cook County and tourists really get hit the hardest.
