The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado watch effective for the entire metro Chicago area until 8pm.
This watch was issued as several severe thunderstorms have formed just southwest of Pontiac and North of Peoria. These storms have prompted Tornado Warnings due to these storms.
Here is a look at a Doppler Radar view as of 4:09 pm CDT

We just got the last of the clouds from the tail end of the first little blotch. Now it's sunny as hell and we're waiting for the cell with the tornado. ABC7 reported one on the ground southeast of Joliet. I'm keeping an eye out for anything I see out here.

I've been on the phone back and forth with my friend from Frankfort Square. They've been getting a TON of low laying clouds with rotation but they've been dicipating. Still nothing up here in Oak Forest really. Sirens every so often but nothing really up in the sky that I can see.
They've been reporting a couple more tornado sightings on the new channels but I don't know how credible all of it is. I have yet to hear a definitive report of the one south of joliet from a little while ago.
Was at work when it happened. Many dangerous looking clouds passed over the store, but didn't see anything exciting.
People are stupid in Tornado Warnings, I had to tell at least 50 people walking out to their cars to come back inside and go to the lower level, all while the sirens were going off and the lady on the intercom was telling people to go downstairs.

I was at Route 66 Raceway when the warnings came out. It made for a very interesting time there since there is no place to hide. The tornado missed the track by about 20 miles though, so we were ok.
Ha I was in Chicago today... and freaked out when my mom called me and told me about everything that was going on. But I figured nothing would really happen. Where we were, the storms weren't very exciting, mostly rain. There was only a little bit of lightning and thunder. Although later on at night we kept seeing lightning over the lake/up north.
Me and my friend from Frankfort headed south after everything passed by. Almost every road was blocked off, and so was a huge chunk of 57. There was a TON of damage. We cut through a back road and got a quick glimpse of some of it. Looked awful.
I was in Downtown Joliet while the tornado was going on in Wilmington (which is about 25 miles south of Joliet). There were some ominous clouds, but nothing looking too severe. I was really close to going South and following the storm, but I was with other people and I didn't want to put them in danger. Were it only me, I probably would've filmed it.
We haven't got hit bad at all this weekend in Rosemont, but I think this line of storms heading our way now could be it. Especially since that cold front isn't far behind. We have a sever thunderstorm watch at the moment.
Man! There were tornado warning everywhere yesterday! I was in Hartford and I heard the sirens go off. My mom and I had kinda chased the storm there...but anyway, that rain and wind was flying like a bat out of hell so we parked in a park. It lasted forever. So then we went to see my grandma and apperently they had to put all the residents of her rehab center in the hallways cause of the tornado warnings. It just kept raining and stuff after that! So I washed my hair in the rain last night and it got really soft and smooth!!!!! But yeah, this kind of weather is so exciting, but scary at the same time.
I was at Cedar Point and we didn't get anything. However, on TV, there were tons of tornado watches and warnings. Luckily it just missed us, otherwise, Coastermania would have been finished...
the storm last night brought a big snapping turtle (about the size of a football) in the middle of our street. my sister got home at around 2 am and saw it in the middle of the street so she got my dad out of bed to get it out of the street. right now it is in my dog's old cage. we are going to take it back to the river a little bit later.
