Final Goodbye!!

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.
Postby Jamesb58 on December 1st, 2006, 8:18 pm
Hey everyone:

Well, I've been on and off, on and off in this Forum and I'm saying my
final good bye from this site.

There has been lots of history between me and this site and I want to
tell everyone here that being at this site hasn't been fun, one bit.

This site is filled with people who take Coasters and Theme Parks way
to seriously!! Come on, it's only a coaster, IT"S NOT FREAKING LIFE!!

Just cause you won't make it to the park 30 times in 1 season, doesn't
mean that you're going to fall over dead right now.

In the past year, I have come to realize that there is more to life than
rollercoasters. They're fun to go on, as a great way to relieve stress and
to have some fun, but I'm OBSESSED with them, as you are.

Everyone here needs to get a life, grow up and realize that Coasters
isn't the life blood of your life.

I just want to add a note to those who run this site. Dave...Aero....
You have turned what use to be a very good coaster site, and turned
it into a horrible, going no where site.

I try and try to come back to see if it has improved and become worth
my time to visit, but alas, it hasn't. Horrible site look, horrible forum look,
horrible Forum Management.

You can't even get the freaking Spam Bots controlled and deleted from
your forum.

Ban me, delete me, who freakin cares. Cause my idiotic days of being
a "Coaster Nerd" is over. I'm growing up, maturing and moving on with
my life.

I hope the rest of you do that too. Grow up, cause there is more to life
than Coasters!!

Whatever!!

I think by posting this that you have absolutely no respect for other people and their interests. I think by insulting the people that run this site, you give a disrespectful vibe and, quite frankly, I don't care how long you've been on this site, you're a moron if you think you're opinion makes a world of a difference. If you don't like it...LEAVE! I also think that you are regressing to immaturity, not becoming more mature. Anyone maturing and realizing what life is for wouldn't need a goodbye hug to stop posting here!!!!

Dear Mods....keep this thread open, i think this guy deserves every bit of "positive reinforcement" that he will receive...he obviously wants the attention! :D

I think that's one of the problems with this site. You can't express yourself or your opinion without being shot down, and thus leading to flame wars. (I smell smoke already).

^I agree with you on that, however, for a guy who's been on this site for so long, if he ment it as constructive criticism, he would have posted it in the problems and suggestions forum and rephrased it so it wasn't insulting anyone.

I'm gonna have to give some credit to James on this one. He didn't cuss out the entire forum like past idiots have done. And I think there is more to life than coasters and thrill rides.

Well take it easy James.

While I do agree with some things you said, roller coasters aren't the most important things in the world. Other thing are a bit uncalled for.

First with the forum spam bots, this is a problem with the coding of phpBB2, they are working on an updated version, in the meantime ANY site that uses phpBB2 is vulnerable to these spam attacks, that includes sites such as ThemeParkReview. Its just something that is our of our control.

And if you don't like the colors etc. Sorry that you don't but we feel these colors help accurately represent the site.

Sorry to see you go but with an attitude like that don't let the door hit you on the way out. You'll learn that the hard way in the real life world.

Your right this site isn't going anywhere, and it's all because of me and Aero.

It's not going to graduate High School or College.
It's not going to get a high paying job.
It's not going to get married or have a family.

It's just a web site.

It's just going to be for people who want information and discussion about Great America. It's never going to be anything more then that. So sorry it's not going anywhere.

Way to be mature about the whole thing :). And have a good life.

That was like walking into a trailer park yelling "I hate Wal-Mart". Just because your not really interested in coasters anymore doesn't mean no one else can be. I hope this wasn't supposed to be an example of your so-called "maturing". Adios.

I think that's one of the problems with this site. You can't express yourself or your opinion without being shot down, and thus leading to flame wars. (I smell smoke already).

This is sooooo true!! I totally agree. But its not just this site, its most of these SFGAm forums. At least that is what I have noticed. It gets really annoying when I feel I have to hide my opinions or even lie sometimes so that I won't get bashed all the time! (no I dont lie on here I just feel the need to often).

These forums are suposed to be for debating things and getting info but that does not mean that you should start fights! We can all debate without arguing-there is a difference.

We can stop this problem first by this: If you want to state an opinion, don't do it in an angry way. Then, if someone states someting you don't agree with, just be patient and state your opinion in a calm, kind manner. We don't need to argue and start fights. That is immature. and that is what this guy did wrong. He could have told us about the problems without insulting everyone!

I actually am glad that he did this!! This opens up a place where we can work out things like this-where maybe, just maybe, we can all knock some sense into ourselves and realize what some of us may be doing wrong.

I think what he might have meant by "taking coasters too seriously" was this: We do tend to get sooo into them that we begin to bash people for things that really are unnecessary. Of course, there is no reason to not make roller coasters your life. They aren't my whole life, but a big part of it now. But just because someone loves coasters to death doens not mean that they have to get all "serious" and try to compete and feel superior to others just becasue they know more about coasters than others. This has happened to me in the past. I don't know much, so I got all beat up for that. Coasters are life to many and they should be fun, and serious in a fun exciting way-not a way that will make others feel bad.

Now, I am not saying everyone on these forums is like this nor does it happen every day. I have not encountered anything like this on here, but on other sites, yes. I'm sorry but that jamesb58 guy has a point. I know there have been a lot of crazy stupid fights on sites like this in the past, and I think it is time we all just forgive each other and be friendly from now on.

I have even done this stupid sh*t when I first joined zone. And to the people who run this site: ok, maybe there are a few things that could be better or whatever, but ya know, I'm sure its hard to run a site like this. Especially when there are so many members!! I give you credit for trying your best.

Ok, this got long and probably really boring, but please take it into consideration. Not just for my sake, but for the sake of everybody on here and all the forums like this. Remember: We are friends who talk about coasters, not enemies who fight. :D

but hey, I've made a lot of new friends from forums like this and I plan to make more!! Make up time :D

^If you knew the administrators and moderators on this site, you would know NONE OF US take this hobby that seriously.

Infact, the group that runs this site actually gets a kick out of the tools that actually take all of this to the extreme.

Some people have been banned for going overboard and insulting others along with having piss-poor spelling and grammar.

Every coaster site has the bad apples (aka tools).
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

What? I feel like I never have to lie about or omit my opinions. It people don't agree, fine. If they feel they need be an idiot about it, it's whatever. I don't feel the need to validate my opinion to someone that looks like they're playing marco polo with their keyboard when they post.

I think his post was inane and asshole's way to leave.

I'm surprise that anyone needs to validate their maturity on a website to a bunch of people that can barely remember him. Plus saying you're mature is like bragging about humble it defeats the purpose.

I think we know that there's a life outside of theme parks. I barely visit this site but I think I can speak for regulars here when I say we all know that. But in life there's this thing called interest, you know hobbies something to past your time with? Yes well this site is for people with roller coaster interest you ditz.

You claim that we take coasters and parks too seriously, but you're making a pathetic post like this all over a website? Most of us here do in fact have a life outside of coasters, including myself. I don't know where you've been, but who ever said or even implied that coasters were like the blood running through our systems? Maybe one person? Wow, ONE person said that, that means everyone else thinks the same!

Guys, first of all I never said that EVERYONE made me feel that way. Nor am I angry at anybody. Sorry if I impied that. I do have the right to feel that way don't I? All I wanted to do was work things out not point fingers. I'm not calling myself mature either. I can be immature at times too. Everybody can. I was only trying to make a little peace that maybe isnt there right now. And I am totally fine with people disagreeing with me. Its when they yell at me for having an opinion instead of just plain disagreeing. Sorry, maybe I didn't make that real clear.

And the really stupid people who get banned and stuff, well they're just creeps who don't belong.

Amber, just curious. Is that directed to me or the guy who originally posted this? It's not all that clear. Just wondering.

Once again, there is NOTHING wrong with making coasters life or anything. And no, not everyone takes them too seriously and I was not insulting anyone by talking about that. I REALLY don't want to do that!! I'm honestly sorry I said anything I should really learn to keep my mouth shut.

I just have trouble explaining myself but from now on, when I say someting like I did above, don't ever take it as an insult or a threat or that I am pointing fingers at people cause I'm not. I'm sorry I guess I kinda made it sound too harsh. It sure aint everybody who makes me feel that way-just a few. I should have clarified. Im sorry.

"I think his post was inane and asshole's way to leave."

And I do agree. He could have said what he wanted to say in a nicer way. He did not have to be such a jerk about it. And when I said he had a point, i did not mean I agree with him totally. I was talking about the "can't express opinions" thing. Maybe thats not even what he was talking about. But he sure as heck insulted me too-anyone who loves roller coasters would feel that way and that is truly an example of a jerk. I have never been that insulted and no one has ever been that mean to me on any forums.

So, we all cool now? All y'all gotta do to make me feel better is say we're cool. thats it. Cause its all cool wit me :D I'm sure it was always cool in your mind but since I am such an emotional person (I hate that about myself) just tell me we're cool (your not mad at me Im not mad at you)and I'll be happy.
