Home Alone Age

Ok, so my parents think they we need to drive 3 1/2 hours every single 3 day weekend to our cabin which annoys the hell out of me. So I asked if I could stay home. They said yes, but this would mean that I would be home by myself, no one for 48 hours :x . Im just wondering if any other 14 year old or someone around my age has done this. We have an alarm, I know how to dial 911, and I know how to use fireplace tools as a weapon :D

^I think your first and only worry would be announcing that you are going to be alone on a public website. However, you'll be fine. I could understand how you might be wondering (my little brother is your age and would probably be wondering the same thing), but it really isn't a big deal. Just don't watch any scary movies, don't answer the phone unless you know who it is, and keep the blinds closed at night and just pretend like everyone else is home. Other than that, i say it's fine, but then again, that's just the opinion of a 20 year old.

I've been staying home alone since I was 12 and the longest my mom has ever been gone was for like a WHOLE 2 days. I survived. My brothers and stepfather visited me and cousin but other than that nothing really happened. But just explain to your parents that your growing up and you need to experience that great feeling of staying home by your self! LOL Hell even throw a house party if u wanted to! LOL JK

I could never, EVER stay home alone for a whole day or even overnight. I would end up having panic attacks and wouldn't be able to sleep. I've never had to, and I never will.

I don't blame you. I do get worried about my mom sometimes if shes gone for like the whole day or too long. Like one time i was over my aunts house and its like i will call the house almost every day when i'm over my aunts. So one day i called in the morning...no answer the afternoon...no answer and at like 8:30...no answer! So i finally called at about 10:30 she finally picks up and i'm like "WHERE HAVE U BEEN? I WAS WORRYING ABOUT U!" then she says like i've been to church then went shopping.

It's not that I'd worry about whoever's gone, I just get really scared being home alone. I always think something or someone is in my house, waiting to kill me, hurt me, or rape me. Or outside of my house. I wish I could stop it, but I can't.

I do too! U know what i do? If i'm home alone and if i'm finna go to sleep, I leave the living room light on to let the burgulars know that someones home and i leave it on upstaits in the other apartment where my mom lives. That should help. or if u have a home security system turn that on but turn off the moton monitors so u won't cause a false alarm.

I was alone saturday night and was supposed to be home alone sunday night but my parents came home early. I had the alarm on pretty much the entire time I was home, except I forgot to lock the back door and the wind blew it open which caused the alarm to go off at 2am  So I jumped out of bed ran to the fireplace and got that sphere like thing, ran to the back door and saw something that looked like a person, so I stabed it, it turned out to be just he coat rack.

My sister, whos 17, was home alone for about 3 days, and she was totally freaking out, she was talking to us on the phone, saying that she thought there were people outside, and she just hid the whole time...it was quite entertaining...

I seriously doubt you have or had an alarm system. If you lean on a door when it is armed, the alarm goes off. The deadbolt was not lcoked and the handle lock wasnt either, the door knob didnt click, so that pin thing wasnt in the wall. When I went to arm the system it displayed that all doors were closed, "ALL SECURE", I went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night to the screaming alarm went to the fireplace got the sphere like thing just in case, the room was completely dark and there was this tall thing, it looked real, so I took a stab at it just in case. Yes I dont make the best descisions when I get jolted awake at 2 a.m. , I dont think anyone does.
