Thanks to my tax refund, I have a tough choice to make......
An HDTV, or an X-Box 360 plus some games.
I ask you guys, what would you choose? In fact, I will let everybody here choose what I get within 2 weeks.

THat depends
Do you have comcast digital cable or satelite?
Do you have an x-box, ps2, or game cube?
Do have eithr?
Which would you use more?
If you answered yes to the 1st question, obviously HDTV.
If you answered yes to the 2nd question, still go with the HDTV
If you don't have cable, satelite, or a game system, X-box 360

Well, I would get a LCD / Plasma HDTV but thats way out of your price range. Normal non HD cable looks like crap on an HDTV (worse than it does on a normal tv) so be careful when chosing.

What is really drawing me towards an HDTV is when I was walking through Best Buy, and they had Revenge of the Sith playing on an HDTV, and man did that look sweet. Then again, I see some of the X-Box 360 games and think the same thing.

Go with the TV! You can always get a Xbox 360 later on during the year.

NTSC does look like crap on most HDTV's, espically LCD's and Plasmas. keep this in mind: an HD set bought today is an investment. really, there are very few HD cable channels and OTA channels. the only other HD sources are going to be your computer and some video games (all games if you have a 360).
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Think of it this way, your Xbox 360 will look like crap without the HDTV.

oh yeah. my 23" Panasonic LCD was under $1100 at Abt. there was a dicsount on that because of their anaversary sale or whatever, but $1500 is good enough to get you a very nice screen.

Widescreen HDTV with integrated digital tuner. Make sure it has HDMI interface with digital audio outputs. This will allow you to connect to a reciever and watch any digital signal with 5.1 surround sound.
You will also want 1080i resolution at the least. I wouldn't go plasma, or CRT if it can be avoided. A lot of stations have those *explecitive deleted* logos on them that can burn into the sets image. DLP seems to be the best route for now, as LCD still suffers from ghosting and dead pixels on occasion.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
