No, thats not sad. Thats pethetic! They should of been fixed propoley! What if reta went for a direct hit? What would of happened to the big easy then? If you ask me, its a sign that says "GET THE HECK OUT OF NEW ORLEANS FOR GOOD!" I dotn think we should wast tax money on re-building NO, build it some where else where it will be cheaper.
New Orleans is slowly sinking so eventually the US wil have to move out of there. Until then, however, they should fix the levee's A.S.A.P. and as best they can.
They should really consider filling that whole area in until it is at least at sea level.
I see some of those expensive looking homes on the news butting right up to these levees and I ask myself WHY? Why would you build right next to an almost guaranteed flood?
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
The city started off that way, but since NO is built on "artificial" landfill, the sea will always try to reclaim it. Same problem for Holland. There isn't a whole lot they can do to keep it from sinking, except update the levees after this hurricane season is over, or leave it alone and let mother nature reclaim what's hers. But since that's not going to happen, more money needs to be spent on modernizing the levee system, much like Holland has had to do.
