In one day, FOX launches its Animation Domination Sunday. For me, I never could get into King of the Hill. The Simpsons ,which is past its prime, is set to air its 350th & 351st episodes.
But, I'm most looking forward to the return of Family Guy. I just finished watching the new season premiere episode this afternoon, where the first few minutes(a can't miss moment) are a riot.
Let the domination begin!
I thought it was funny when peter is like why does that jesus guy just stand there and hes like if i was him id do something...( peter being jesus and getting whipped) ok now stop it i said stop it and their like ok ok o k ok. VErY FUNNY SHOW I LOVE FMAILY GUY! dananana dunaduna cant touch me!
Family Guy drew in just under 12 million viewers, which was larger than the average audience of The Simpsons. American Dad lost a nice portion of its lead-in from Family Guy, only keeping about 9 million viewers.
Well if it wasnt for crappy NASCAR we would have seen many more family guy episodes. Comon Fox, family guy lost viewers because of this SAME reason before. You gave it a crappy timeslot and look what happened, you took it off the air. Now you've played 4 episodes are doing the same thing. Put starwars or NASCAR on FX or FoxSportsnet (Isn't that why fox made that channel?) and stop dicking around with Family Guy's timeslot.
V2's Mighty Golden Arrow wrote:Has anyone noticed the Simpsons has become extremely liberal lately? Maybe because Bush was re-elected?
Lately? The show has always taken shots at all sides of the debate. Politics is a topic the Simpsons regularly take on.
Wasn't it Just two years ago that Fox News got pissed off about the fake Fox news crawl on a Simpson episode featuring headlines such as "Study Shows Democrats are Evil", "Hitler was a Democrat", "JFK switches to Republican Party posthemously".
Season 5 or 6 I think has some of the best "liberal" lines of all time.
Episode where sideshow Bob runs for Mayor-
"Oooh that was a bad mistake Bart. No child has ever messed with the Republican Party and lived to tell about it" - Sideshow Bob
"Oh my God! The dead have risen and are voting Republican!" - Bart
Different Episode - Pretty sure it was within this same time period
"What act of unmitigated evil shall the Republican Party undertake this week?" - C. Montgomery Burns
Lets not forget that the Springfield Republican Party meeks in a dark cave, has featured Bob Dole reading from the Necronomicon (sp?), and counts as its members Burns, Smithers, Texas Oil Guy, Dracula/Count Chocula, Dr. Hibbert, and McBain.
"Diamond" Joe Quimby is a satirical version of John F. Kennedy. Thats why he has the funky accent, the wife who wears pink, and is often shown as a moronic womanizer. His most famous quote"Ich Ben Ein Springfielder" is a play on a mistake that JFK made in Berlin "Ich Ben Ein Berliner".
You also have the Treehouse of Horror episode that featured Bob Dole and Clinton being replaced by Kodos and Kang. When the hideous space mutants are revealed they say how its to late to do anything about it and you have to vote for one of them - "What are you going to do? Vote for a third party candidate. Go ahead and waste your vote. (evil laughter)"
Ross Perot is shown punching out a hat at this point. The humans become slave to emperor Kang to which Homer quips "Don't blame me, I voted Kodos"
Religion is also featured in a lot of episodes, usually preaching the Christian or Conservative side of that debate. A study done a few years by one of those wack job Parents TV religious groups suprisingly found that the Simpsons was the #1 non religion show in primetime for mentioning God & Religion, often in a positive manner.
Most famous would be the episode of Bibe stories performed by Simpsons characters that ends with the Rapture and the Simpson Family going to Hell while AC/DC plays in the background.
Bottom line - Try to enjoy the show for what it is, and Try not to look at things through a myopic partisan view. Not everything is either "consevative" or "liberal".
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
